I love that EVERYone's sleeping on the Packers. No pressure. R-E-L-A-X

...And rightfully so! Bet on the Packers 3 times this year. Lost all 3, the worse being the loss to the Lions when they were undefeated. The Packers are good team, but they're not a team where you can comfortably rely on them because you never know if/when the WR's are going to show up.

Carolina has two of their best corners out and Russell is throwing better than ever. I think it's highly probable. The only reason they lost during the regular season was blown coverage on one play.

Go Hawks

Umm..I'm probably the biggest Hawks fan here but I do need to correct you.

In the first game Seattle was winning 23-14 in the 4th.

Carolina came back with TWO 80 yd. drives to win 27-23.

That does not equate blown coverage on one play. It means the hawks melted.

So many wrong predictions.

When will people stop trying to predict the future, and just be content to let it unfold?

It proves there really is an illuminati.

The coin that didn't flip. Instant classic.

It's looking like Cardinals vs. Panthers for the NFC.

Doesn't surprise me. The teams with the best records usually make it to the SB.

Packers totally blew that one. There are not excuses for that. How you let someone that wide open in OT is beyond me. Good for Fitz. Last time he had a long play, it was against the Steelers for the go ahead TD in the Super Bowl which was negated by the Cardinals defense on the next Steelers drive. Hopefully the Cardinals help Fitz get the ring he deserves.

Correction: it looks like Arizona vs. the winner of the Carolina vs. Seattle game.

That game doesn't take place until tomorrow.

So unless you know something that the rest of us don't know ...

"Usually"? Is 14 out of 49 SBs "usually"? Nevermind the fact that having the best record does not really mean all that much: in 18 SBs, the lower-seeded team beat the higher-seeded team (a little better than half the time).

Since SB XXXV in 2001, the two #1 teams met only 3 times. In the other 12 of those recent championships, the higher-seeded team won only twice (though, that SB XL was a bit of a fiasco).

Some good games yesterday. I'd say more that Andy Reid's clock management was the cause of their loss and not the Patriots winning the game.

Also what was up with that coin flip for the GB game?

I am rooting for CAR but I think SEA has a little gas left in the tank... we'll see.

I don't think anyone is getting by Carolina. Since their loss, they've been on point and understand who they're playing. They'll not take the Seahawks too lightly.

I think people won't realize how effective Alex Smith is after that clock management meltdown. Maclin was obviously very limited and the Patriots neutralized Kelce, and yet Smith still found ways to convert on a number of difficult third down situations. That one play where he eluded like three tacklers and made a long pass to extend their last TD drive was bananaland.

But "chicks dig the long ball" in the NFL just like in baseball, so he won't get much credit.

I see what you're saying but there were much more to the clock management then that, including the idea of huddling up before the 2 minute warning, chatting and not really having a play already picked out. Or the number of runs selected. There was a ton of time on the clock for two scores and they had 3 time outs. If you're going to run the ball, then stop the clock with a TO. If you're going to throw down the middle of the field. Use a TO to kill the clock.

This isn't the first time Andy Reid's been criticized for poor clock management. If its not something they practice during the preseason and regular season, you cannot expect teams to be great at it during the playoffs, and I have to wonder if its something that Reid doesn't spend a lot of time one.

Oh, all of the criticisms of Reid's clock management today will be spot-on. It's clearly a huge issue in his coaching. I was just speaking to the fact that this issue will eclipse Smith's performance, which wasn't eye-popping when you look at the stats, but he made some clutch plays.
