Some animations are better for me but launchpad and switching between different desktops is still stuttering, and some graphic glitches in adobe photoshop is still present for me... overall performance is still crappy, will hand in to applecare to see if its some hardware error i think

It's been a while since the last comment, but hoping this would be helpful to someone out there..

Looks like High Sierra did fix the issue, almost.
Like dashwin above mentioned, most of the lags are gone. With Sierra, my MBP 2017 13'' (Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 1536 MB) experienced significant UI lags -- EVERYTIME I tried three-finger swiping for Expose/Mission Control/etc, it had a few to several second delays, plus stuttering animation. But after updating to High Sierra, it's much better. It's not perfect, e.g., when I swipe for the first time for an app, there's a bit of delay but after that, it's very fast and smooth. It's still much better than in Sierra and it's now at least usable.

However, as Jaekae pointed out, I still experience some lags while switching between desktops which I almost never had with my 2011 MBP. I don't know what's up with that.. Hope this gets improved, too, in later updates.

here's the plain copy-paste:

  • Delete /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist
  • Delete ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.windowserver*.plist
  • Shutdown OSX
  • Startup, immediately press and hold the P and R keys while holding down the option (⌥) and command (⌘) keys before the gray boot screen appears, which resets the PRAM
