I think you're right about McCoy
The issue, is that he has had a great team, but failed to live up to expectations. His first year was 9 -7, as was his second year. I think their record should have been better those years given the talent, but then the last two years they've had losing records.

As Bill Parcells said "You are what your record says you are"

Odd weekend of football, most of the games were in Saturday.

Well, looks like Pagano takes responsibility for the Colts miserable season - of course what else could he say.

The question is whether Irsay will fire him (even though he got the dreaded vote of confidence a month or so ago). Tbh, I was completely shocked that Irsay gave both him and the GM extensions last year.

Black Monday is coming and here's my list
Definite:
Chargers - McCoy
Bears - Fox
Cols - Pagano (I'm calling it, and saying he'll be fired)
Jets Bowles
Bills - Ryan

Possible
Lions - Caldwell
49ers - Kelly (Coaches in their first year don't usually get canned but they've looked horrible)
Browns - Brown Jackson (because you can't fire a team)

i hope so. i can't stand him.

McCoy - Rivers has looked like **** when it's come down to crunch time.

I don't really see too many charger games (probably because they're on the left coast and I'm on the right), so I neither like or hate him, but I do think the ownership as squandered a franchise QB's career. Its my opinion that the window for the Chargers to really perform deep into the playoffs has largely closed. Clearly some of that blame falls on the coach.

There's other coaches that I can't stand (like Rex Ryan) :)

I'm not not a Ryan fan either.

My comments were about Fox.

I like McCoy. ;)

Oh, the quote in your post was partially hidden, so I didn't see that you bolded Fox and since I was talking about McCoy, I thought you were providing your $.02

Yes, I agree, I can't stand Fox either. I think this was his last opportunity to be a head coach.

Good point. Actually, I do remember now that he started the season on the hot seat.

This guy. How he continues to stay employed in the league just baffles me lol.

You could use him as an MBA case study on how to over promise and under deliver.

You forget that his first 2 years as a head coach he came within a few plays of making the Super Bowl with a crappy QB (mark Sanchez) plus if he decides to give up coaching and go back to defensive coordinating he instantly becomes one of the hottest candidates in the league. His brother Rob on the other hand is an atrocity and that statement could be said about him, no idea how he's still employed in this league

I haven't forgotten about his first two HC years. I just think his most recent 6 years under .500 is a better indicator of what you get with Rex running the show.

Sure, he can definitely get a DC gig...if his ego allows it.

I wonder who gives him a job now. Maybe the Rams, they seem to like giving coaching jobs to idiots.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Marvin Lewis with the Bengals. He should have been fired a couple of years ago.

That would be sad, but wouldn't surprise me at all.

The Bills fired Rex Ryan
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/18357761/buffalo-bills-fire-head-coach-rex-ryan

I'm not sure why they did it now. While I'm not a fan of him, let the guy finish the season, he knew he was going to be let go.

I guess they figure that maybe they can get a jump on the offseason, although the interim guy rarely changes anything in terms of wins or locker room culture. I don't get it either.

At least they didn't fire him as he was boarding the plane to go home (cough cough Jags).

First of many to come. I think the Rams will go for a big name coach and hire Ryan.

The timing may not be perfect but maybe Pegula wants to see what Tyrod can do in the final game.

Biggest surprise to me is Broncos not making it

I know the offense isn't first class but honestly the defense is sooo good they should have been able to make up for that.

Maybe I'll finally see my dream super bowl: NE vs DAL

their defense seems to be off their game this season. i'm laying odds their qb spot will be given a good looking over in the off season.

I've been saying since the first week of the season that it will be KC/NE vs DAL in SB LVI ...

The problem in Denver isn't the QB, it is the offensive line. It sucks, they can't pass block and they can't run block.

Well ESPN is reporting that Chip Kelly and the GM will be let go as soon as today or tomorrow. I can understand that with the firing of Trent Baalke the new GM will want his coach, and forcing a marriage of new GM and old coach will just continue the dysfunction.

In other shocking news PFT is reporting that Kubiak may resign, though it appears this may be health related more then anything.

Ouch. Back to back years for Chip. I wonder where he goes now..I can't imagine another NFL HC gig is in his future.

I'm no fan of Chip, but I think he was dealt a tough hand in San Fran. The team definitely lacked talent, it had it share of off the field distractions and the front office was a mess. Perhaps he should have looked before he leaped last year. His reputation as an innovator and football genius is definitely tarnished. I wouldn't be surprised if you see him back in collage

That's what I'm thinking. Reminds me of Spurrier and Saban's attempts in the league, great college coaches who just weren't good in the NFL.

Sucks for him but I can't say that this firing isn't warranted. Had he resigned a month ago he could have had the Oregon job back.

Would it be a surprise if that did happen? Probably not. They would get a coach that plays to the only strength the Rams have which is defense. But if they really want to get this ship moving in the right direction, they need an offensive-minded coach and a coach who can coach up a young QB with potential in Goff. The defense is what it is, any decent defensive coordinator can maintain and run the defense but the Rams seriously need to fix that offense.

Sorry, couldn't resist...

I think at this point, any team that hires Rex Ryan is making a mistake. His teams are consistently undisciplined, and his one-of-the-guys approach just doesn't fly in the NFL. Great defensive mind, but simply not HC material.

Fully agree.

There was another report this morning that Sean Payton's name was being attached to the Rams head coaching position. Don't know how serious this is but I could get with that hire. The Rams either need someone who can bring in fresh ideas and schemes or someone who has experience with successful teams/QB's and Payton definitely has the latter.
