oh man that's really depressing. To think that they could have literally kneeled down 3 times in a row after that amazing Julio catch and kicked a FG to ice the game......SMH

Yeah, all they needed was an easy field goal. Instead, Ryan takes a big sack, then a holding call and they have to punt it away.

Game like that, it's never just a comeback or a choke. It has to be both happening side by side.
Agreed, I think it does a disservice to the Falcons to say they choked. I don't think so. They played their hearts out and I didn't really think they let up. I think the Patriots took advantage of the man coverage. The falcons made some poor decisions late in the game, and the ball bounced the Patriots way in other aspects.

The Falcons had 98.2% chances of winning in the position they were in at 28-3 in the 3rd quarter.
Prior to Super Bowl LI, teams leading by 25 or more points at any time in any NFL game were 2,545-2 in the regular season and 102-2 in the postseason so in total 2,647-4.
Going against all odds, Tom freaking Brady baby :D

I, too, thought the game was over after Julio Jones made that catch. But Shanahan continued to be aggressive and it didn't work out for the Falcons. Brady is amazing. My goodness.

Now, I just hope Shanahan has learned from his Super Bowl mistake (which he owned up to it) and help re-vamp this 49ers franchise.

I hope Shanahan gets a better QB than useless Kaepernick though.
If not he wont get too far besides another 2-14 season.

I hope so too. I'm over Kaepernick. He needs to go. I was surprised that both Shanahan and Lynch said they would watch footage and speak with him in regards to his future with the organization, but I think it's time to move on.

Maybe consider signing a QB through free agency or trading for one (I heard, he really, really likes Garappolo), draft a QB to have them learn Shanahan's system (I wouldn't mind Maholmes from Texas Tech).

It's exciting, but I'm not too excited about the Niners getting back to their winning ways, just yet.

I hear you, I think Jimmy G would do great there.
Hope they pick up and work hard to bring back the 49ers in a position that they belong in the top of the NFC.
This last place and all the negativity with Kaepernick is not working out too well.

Agreed. I'd like nothing better than seeing Colin riding off into the sunset and never playing football again.

Haha, I think there will be a team still willing to give him a shot. I was never a big fan of his, but the wildcard game against the Packers and the game against the Patriots in New England were amazing performances...I wish he continued to grow from that, but he didn't. Too late now, it's time to move on.

Agreed. Nothing against Kaepernick personally, but he's clearly more interested in being a social justice warrior than a successful NFL QB. He can follow his passion without tying up cap space and a roster spot.

Unfortunately for the niners, unless they get Jimmy G or Romo, I don't see them getting much better at the position. No one in the draft looks like a day-one starter to me, much less a guy who can change the course of a franchise.

Unfortunately for the niners, unless they get Jimmy G or Romo, I don't see them getting any much at the position. No one in the draft looks like a day-one starter to me, much less a guy who can change the course of a franchise.

Romo to Broncos...?

True, I'm all for social justices, but when your job performance has not progressed since leading the team to the Super Bowl, then yeah, it's time to go. The Niners already have re-structured his contract that doesn't hinder the cap, if he is cut.

Not sure how much it will take to pry Jimmy G away from the Patriots. ESPN's John Clayton thinks it'll take atleast a 2nd RD pick and additional picks for him. Similar to what the Chiefs traded to get Alex Smith.

You're right. The draft isn't strong with QBs. Really strong in OL and LBs, though.

My assumption is Shanahan signs or trades for a veteran and maybe draft a QB, to sit and learn Shanahan's playbook.

Scary thing is, with Jed York's track history, I'm worried he might go on another fire sale after two seasons...Can't trust him at his word.

I'm not expecting much from the Niners this season. I just want to see improvement in the entire offense, a MLB that works well with Navarro Bowman, and a Secondary that defend WRs well.

I think these expectations are a lot though, lol. I haven't heard who is being considered as a DC...And whoever they bring in, may run a 4-3. My hope is whoever the DC is, they build a system that utilizes both DeForest Buckner and Arik Armstead.

I'm curious to see where Romo ends up. But we all know Jerry Jones' man-crush on the guy. He may persuade Romo to stay to get paid on the bench.

Maybe, but the Broncos problem is the OL. If we don't fix that, it really doesn't matter who is playing QB.

I heard this on the radio over the weekend.

The Buffalo Bills reportedly have 'significant interest' in Tony Romo and former NFL head coach Herm Edwards see the Bills as a good fit for the veteran QB.

In an appearance on ESPN First Take, Edwards suggested that Jerry Jones trade Romo to Buffalo.

"It's real simple," Edwards said. "(Jerry Jones) mentioned it. He said this Dallas Cowboy team is built for Tony Romo. Well if it's built for Tony Romo a couple of things come into mind. What team is similar to this that needs help? Buffalo Bills."

Edwards believes that Buffalo will not pick up Tyrod Taylor's option and explains that the Bills and Cowboys were both among the league's best running teams.
