Agreed. Nothing against Kaepernick personally, but he's clearly more interested in being a social justice warrior than a successful NFL QB. He can follow his passion without tying up cap space and a roster spot.
Unfortunately for the niners, unless they get Jimmy G or Romo, I don't see them getting much better at the position. No one in the draft looks like a day-one starter to me, much less a guy who can change the course of a franchise.
True, I'm all for social justices, but when your job performance has not progressed since leading the team to the Super Bowl, then yeah, it's time to go. The Niners already have re-structured his contract that doesn't hinder the cap, if he is cut.
Not sure how much it will take to pry Jimmy G away from the Patriots. ESPN's John Clayton thinks it'll take atleast a 2nd RD pick and additional picks for him. Similar to what the Chiefs traded to get Alex Smith.
You're right. The draft isn't strong with QBs. Really strong in OL and LBs, though.
My assumption is Shanahan signs or trades for a veteran and maybe draft a QB, to sit and learn Shanahan's playbook.
Scary thing is, with Jed York's track history, I'm worried he might go on another fire sale after two seasons...Can't trust him at his word.
I'm not expecting much from the Niners this season. I just want to see improvement in the entire offense, a MLB that works well with Navarro Bowman, and a Secondary that defend WRs well.
I think these expectations are a lot though, lol. I haven't heard who is being considered as a DC...And whoever they bring in, may run a 4-3. My hope is whoever the DC is, they build a system that utilizes both DeForest Buckner and Arik Armstead.
