What do you mean by flatline? My design capacity is stated to be 6669. It only charges to 6580...
[doublepost=1484873024][/doublepost]Another interesting observation is the charge % in coconut battery is about 7% lower than what Apple's menu says.
By flatline I just mean the average level of power consumption. Is seems to be at around 600 mAh or 6-6.5 watts all the time, with no apps opened other than this actual safari window right here.

Not sure why you mention it then...

Yeah I see your point..But basically I am just making the point that the battery life I get gives me flexibility to use the machine the way I use it for a couple of days without charging. I don't measure it like I did when I first got the machine, I just enjoy it now. I get very acceptable battery life, and I am happy with it. It's not 10 hours like Apple states but hey.

What is your display level at?

Just a heads up, how long is the window before your return period? There are people here who, since launch, have not experienced any significant improvements in battery life. If that's a deal breaker for you, I'd say test it for a week (If time permits), then return it afterwards. Very rarely in modern laptops nowadays will you have any "indexing" to do to boost up your battery life.

I have to call BS on this... My new MBP 13 inch gets only a few hours of battery life. I was showing pictures to family with Apple TV and after an hour my comp was at 55%. Unacceptable! Even when just browsing the internet it gets knocked down quickly. Maybe mine is faulty but there are so many others that I think it's the norm.

I get 9+ hours often.

Are you considering opening and closing your screen throughout the day as part of your battery drain time tally? I'm still not convinced that Apple was wasn't completely delusional or misleading about their stated battery time. I buy a new computer every 7-8 years and this laptop is supposed to take me well into the future so I want to make sure this iteration can take me there before my return period runs out. For starters, the battery capacity in mAH is smaller than previous models and they have added features that drain the battery further. The processor can't be that much more efficient to compensate for this plus yield more run time as advertised. All the talk about software updates making the big difference seems like a distraction when the battery itself is so small! Has anyone gone through these steps with any luck? http://www.consumerreports.org/laptops/how-to-fix-the-macbook-pro-battery-problem/

I get 9+ hours often. Screen open and on the entire time.

I have another 8 days. I purchased through MacMall.
That's odd. Usually new ones charge up to more than the stated capacity.
Can you point to an article/source for this information?

Well I would probably start looking into returning the computer. If I were in your position, I would start the process earlier than on the deadline.

Idk, I get 10 hours on a normal basis with light work. If I'm doing a lot of photo editing and work of that nature I get 6-7 hours. A handful of times I've gotten over 10 hours of battery with light work as well. (This is all with my brightness at 50-65%)
