This is only my second time doing a pre-order through Apple. First was for my iPhone 7+. I tracked that thing multiple times a day and it had some odd movements. Thought it went to Louisville, Alaska, back to Louisville before it arrived in Phoenix.

What makes this pre-order different from that pre-order? Genuinely curious...not trying to be as ass.

As with that pre-order, Apple uses the fastest shipping possible with their shipping partners.

The odd movements are either due to glitches in tracking, or the fact that your iPhone was probably originally in a crate or otherwise with hundreds or thousands of other orders. Plus, shipping is usually "spoke and hub" type. That's why a shipment might seemingly pass you by. In fact, I live in a rural area very near the interstate highway (about a mile from it). I've had stuff literally go right by my house on an 18-wheeler to a hub in a nearby city, THEN go on a truck to a distribution center, which it has to go past my house on the same interstate AGAIN to get to, and THEN finally get to my house. Going right past my house twice before it's out for delivery. As inefficient as that sounds; in the grand scheme of things, it's a lot more efficient.

So no matter what, it's going out as fast as it can. It'll first be loaded onto a plane, probably carrying exclusively MacBook Pro's, then to your countries nearest air shipping hub (usually a major airport that has a facility for the carrier there). Then on to trucks from there out to distribution centers, and then onto a truck for delivery.

With ANY Apple Pre-Order, Apple will send the product out as fast as they possibly can, there is no faster shipping than what Apple already uses. Later on, when these are in stock in regional warehouses in your country, expedited shipping is an option.

Part of WHY they always ship using the fastest option is that it's just easier that way than allowing people to pay for faster shipping; because they are sending thousands (hundreds of thousands in some cases) of the same device out to the same 'area'. So a plane load of MacBook Pro's is just easier and more efficient than throwing some on a container to go to retailers, some on a plane, some on a truck, etc. etc.

Mine changed to preparing for shipment within the last hour.

BTO, 2.6GHz, 460, 512 SSD, Space Gray

EDIT: My original order was placed within moments of the keynote

P4S doesn't mean it'll ship today. Maybe tomorrow, which is Friday. Weekend UPS is closed. That means the item will start actually moving on Monday. Plus 1-2 days for actual shipping. That means Thursday 11/17 is actual delivery at the earliest.

I've had UPS deliver on weekends before, they deliver Saturday in the States if you have expedited shipping which everybody who pre-ordered does.

I'm not so sure it's going to ship from China that fast for folks either. With my Apple Watch and my iPhone 7 plus, both took 2 days from the point it was picked up by the shipper in China, to the point it arrived at my doorstep.

My order also just changed to Preparing for Shipment! Then it should arrive next week sometime. It is a 15" BTO

I ordered 13" stock, base model. Located in Canada. Nothing yet, no charge to credit card either. Ordered within 5min of keynote ending.

No charge here either. I got one right after the keynote that came back and nothing since, no auth, nothing.
