If you're near a local Apple Store, check them out! My Apple Store had that exact config in stock today!
Oddly enough I went by a Best Buy for something else and they had a 15 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar on display and had some inventory. I received mine 13 " MBP with Touch Bar BTO yesterday, so I didn't inquire too deeply. But if you are looking for a stock model, it may be worth a shot.

I'm surprised my Apple store had the 2.9GHz/1TB/460 in stock today.

I just walked into Apple Store at The Grove in Los Angeles and got the base 13 touchbar at in space gray :)

They said today is first day they have had them. No displays are out yet.

I was able to cancel my pre-order which wasn't due to arrive until Dec14-20. Success!!

Screwey Shipping History on UPS---

Has anyone else faced this sort of blizzard shipping history? Start from the bottom and read up.

it appears that my shipment made it to Louisville then mysteriously restarted back in Shanghai. I called UPS and was unimpressed with the answer they provided. They said that "the paperwork" was shipped to Louisville to ensure a smooth Customs clearance. I call BS. Why would UPS track paperwork and not the actual box?

Any insight from others greatly appreciated.

Yes, me...this makes no sense and I'm a little frazzled.

I was waiting to order until I had a chance to play with one first.

I stopped by the local Apple Store this afternoon and they had just got the new ones out on display.

After trying them, I decided to order a 15" SG, 2.9, 1 tb, 460. But much to my surprise, they had that configuration in stock.

A 460 in stock? You're kidding.

Looks like there are five flights tonight to Newark, NJ (around half an hour or less from my house and the closest shipping center) from Louisville so I hope my MBP gets on one of them and makes it onto the truck tomorrow like my tracking page says.

Anyone with the 3-4 week slot seen any progress yet? I highly doubt it's going to get to me by the first delivery date.

Hi everyone! I'm back!

I pre-ordered within 3 minutes of pre-ordering going live, but then on Nov 4th I cancelled my pre-order due to concerns about not having 32 GB of RAM. (Yes, I can utilize the RAM for my particular needs. I'm not interested in opening up that pandora's box anymore.)

Then after some extensive research, I came to the conclusion that at a minimum, the soonest we might see 32 GB would be one year from now, however, 18-24 months was more likely. I could have held out for upwards of one year, but anything beyond that is just too much for me.

Then I started reading everyone's excited reviews here in this forum. And then more importantly, I heard from one of my professional colleagues that does the same things that I do, and he said his new maxed-out 15" MBP was flat-out awesome. We're both assignment-based photographers that work with lots of large picture files (65 mb each) and we sometimes work on extremely tight deadlines. We also do a fair amount of 4K 60 fps video work where the files weigh in at 5.7 GB per minute of footage. Anyway, he said his new MBP was super smooth at editing these demanding 4K video files while he was also processing his 65 mb still files at the same time. Wow!

All of this excitement led me to place another order late last night. I ordered what I had ordered before: Space Gray 15" MBP, 2.9, 1 TB, 460. And this time I ordered 3 USB-C to USB-A dongles since Apple has cut the price down to $9 a piece. Had I stayed on-course, I would already have my machine, but now my delivery window is Dec 22-28. Sigh, but such is life and the choice was certainly mine to make. The good news is that my next big field trip is not until Jan 3rd, in which I will spend 7 weeks in the field in Florida photographing and video'ing birds. As long as there are no issues when my new MBP arrives (and I certainly don't anticipate any), I should be able to get it up and running for that upcoming lengthy trip.

Glad to be back -- looking forward to taking part in this thread!

Welcome back @Bryan Bowler! As a photographer, who may do more video work in the future, I had noted your previous posts, including deciding to cancel your initial order. Glad you got what you needed to be confident in moving ahead with a new one. Encourages me as well with my purchase. :)

If you're near a local Apple Store, check them out! My Apple Store had that exact config in both colors today!

Yes, thank you! I have an Apple Store 38 mins away and 4-5 Apple Stores about an hour and a half away and I called all of them today to check. Will likely do that again tomorrow, although, it's kind of a lengthy process to do so...but the reward could be huge!

Thanks! I think the majority of us are going to be very pleased with our new MBPs.

Cheers!

I tried to pick one up at Best Buy yesterday, but the rep (and manager) couldn't ring it up, was still slated as preorder (15in), asked me to come back today, I did, but Best Buy changed their release date to the 21st (so still slated as pre-order), luckily the Apple Store down the road had the base 15in space grey I was looking for and picked it up :)

Wow, that is surprising. I drove by a Best Buy today and thought about it, but thought to myself that surely they wouldn't receive stock before the Apple Stores, but I guess in some cases they do.

What the? Scheduled delivery was supposed to be tomorrow, but looking less and less likely....

Did you call FedEx? The one I ordered online also shows this, but the FedEx rep said it actually cleared this morning, the system just hasn't caught up, I'm surprised though, my order still shows this 12 hours after the rep said it was good to go for tomorrow and actually cleared (either way, I just went and picked one up at the Apple Store, didn't want to take the chance of this being delayed any longer)

*probably won't update until something major happens, like lands at my local FedEx warehouse

Exactly what I was told

Not yet, if there is no movement tomorrow, I will doubt I can get it before thanksgiving. What I don't want to see is the order shipped but stopped because of Thanksgiving. Please make my holiday!

I walked in to my Apple store in Portland and they had the 2.9GHz/1TB/460 in stock today. I grabbed one

Pioneer? Nice, how much did it run you?

I grabbed the 2.7, two more in stock, no base units in stock.

I did return a base model so it might be there....

I am just curious, to anyone who already has the MacBook Pro already, does your toucher appear dim? Because, at the keynote and looking online it looked like the touch bar was going to be very bright. However, mine is very dim. How does yours look?

Thanks!

I feel the same, it would be nice if it were a little brighter, I looked under system preferences and couldn't find any control to adjust it

Me too. I even called Apple about it. Also, if you look very close to the touch bar, it looks blurry... you can actually see pixels... so much for being a "Retina display."
