Hi everyone! I'm back!

I pre-ordered within 3 minutes of pre-ordering going live, but then on Nov 4th I cancelled my pre-order due to concerns about not having 32 GB of RAM. (Yes, I can utilize the RAM for my particular needs. I'm not interested in opening up that pandora's box anymore.)

Then after some extensive research, I came to the conclusion that at a minimum, the soonest we might see 32 GB would be one year from now, however, 18-24 months was more likely. I could have held out for upwards of one year, but anything beyond that is just too much for me.

Then I started reading everyone's excited reviews here in this forum. And then more importantly, I heard from one of my professional colleagues that does the same things that I do, and he said his new maxed-out 15" MBP was flat-out awesome. We're both assignment-based photographers that work with lots of large picture files (65 mb each) and we sometimes work on extremely tight deadlines. We also do a fair amount of 4K 60 fps video work where the files weigh in at 5.7 GB per minute of footage. Anyway, he said his new MBP was super smooth at editing these demanding 4K video files while he was also processing his 65 mb still files at the same time. Wow!

All of this excitement led me to place another order late last night. I ordered what I had ordered before: Space Gray 15" MBP, 2.9, 1 TB, 460. And this time I ordered 3 USB-C to USB-A dongles since Apple has cut the price down to $9 a piece. Had I stayed on-course, I would already have my machine, but now my delivery window is Dec 22-28. Sigh, but such is life and the choice was certainly mine to make. The good news is that my next big field trip is not until Jan 3rd, in which I will spend 7 weeks in the field in Florida photographing and video'ing birds. As long as there are no issues when my new MBP arrives (and I certainly don't anticipate any), I should be able to get it up and running for that upcoming lengthy trip.

Glad to be back -- looking forward to taking part in this thread!

That was probably the least helpful of all posts. Some people with iPhones have received theirs sooner which may be promising. But I guess with your apparent expertise, I shouldn't expect it sooner. (When did you order yours and did yours not make that date?)

Whereas it appears the the reply not too long ago showed that it got bumped up to the 17th which is promising.

You can check city pairs too. PANC -> KSDF

I can check for your city.

Oh thanks I see it now! I see there are also two flights to my city in the middle of the night so thankfully that should be enough time to get it here tomorrow :D

Finaly! I decided to go in the retail store and cancel my 3-4 weeks order. The Macbook pro is so low that I will need a clip for my ipad with duet. It turns out to be more efficient for me to use duet + mbp 15. I wasnt able to work longer than 10 hours a day on my previous imac 5k.

Interesting!

What type of apps do you keep on your second screen via Duet vs your main screen?

( Could you start a new thread in the main section for this? I've been wanting to use do it more with my iPad Pro. maybe others will join into. )

Screwey Shipping History on UPS---

Has anyone else faced this sort of blizzard shipping history? Start from the bottom and read up.

it appears that my shipment made it to Louisville then mysteriously restarted back in Shanghai. I called UPS and was unimpressed with the answer they provided. They said that "the paperwork" was shipped to Louisville to ensure a smooth Customs clearance. I call BS. Why would UPS track paperwork and not the actual box?

Any insight from others greatly appreciated.

There are 7 flights enroute from Anchorage to Louisville this evening. I think mine's on 61, 81 or 63

And remember also if you are on the west coast you might have switched planes to UPS99 going to Ontario, California. I went UPS81 to Anchorage and was surprised by my arrival scan in Ontario instead of Louisville.

Hopefully we don't get caught up in customs and my package makes one of the 3 AM flights to Newark!

Did anyone's FedEx "Clearance Delay" disappear yet? Mine is due for delivery tomorrow but it's still in Memphis :/ according to the tracker. Both flights to Utah from Memphis already landed and the tracker doesn't seem to have changed

Do you mind asking your friend if the mbp gets loud or hot when doing graphic intensive work? Assuminng he also ordered the 460 graphics card

picked my MBP 15" 2.7/460/16GB/1TB, ordered for US store pickup half hour after keynote ended.... all the Apple Store employees were crowding around looking at me unbox it, it was the first they had seen. :D

I actually asked him about temps. He said it gets warm to the touch and is somewhat warm in his lap, but not uncomfortably so. He didn't do any temperature readings though.

I was waiting to order until I had a chance to play with one first.

I stopped by the local Apple Store this afternoon and they had just got the new ones out on display.

After trying them, I decided to order a 15" SG, 2.9, 1 tb, 460. But much to my surprise, they had that configuration in stock.

Mine shows the same. :(
I was supposed to get it today, but 2 days ago the status changed to Clearance Delay and the delivery date says not scheduled

What store? I called my local store and was told that BTO machines wouldn't be appearing for several weeks. I guess it's specific to this store (Chicago).

If you're near a local Apple Store, check them out! My Apple Store had that exact config in both colors today!
