Wait so... let me get this straight; if I don't spend upwards of $3,000 a day (over $1m/yr), then I can't afford a $3,000 laptop?
What if, I dunno; just a thought. I don't own a bank or anything. You put your money away for retirement, even if you make a pretty decent amount; but make occasional rare large cash purchases? And you make them so infrequently; that the bank flags them as suspicious because it's not like you to drop $3k in one swipe?
That's all this is. Banks don't flag cards because "Oh, this guy is broke, he can't afford this!". It's just an unusual pattern. Most of my transactions are probably less than $50. You now, a meal or something. And a few that exceed $200 or $300 dollars, a purchase of some sort. Regular monthly transactions (bills) are generally done with EFT so no debit card involved. But dropping $3,000 is definitely not something I do on a daily basis; which is why I let my bank know ahead of time to expect that charge.
