Anyone here that used the Barclay credit? I'm curious if I apply and approved, do I get some sort or account number or do I have to purchase something right away? I wanted to apply, then call Apple and change my payment method to the Barclay but I dont know if I can do that

They don't give you an account number but you are able to access the credit immediately through a redirect. I'm not sure whether or not Barclays would give you the account number if you called.

Once you are approved, it will redirect you to the Apple website to make a purchase. If you don't immediately make a purchase, you have to wait for the credit card in the mail, which can take a week. Then you can activate the card and use it to make a purchase. Edit: Apparently you can still access your credit even before you get your card, see responses below. To get the special interest financing, you must make the purchase within 30 days (from the date of approval, I think?).

17-24 window, no charge. I ordered a few hours after the event.
Same here!

As others have said, you can use immediately through the redirect.
You can also still use before you receive your card. Go to the Barclays website and check the status of your application. Then it will give you an option to use your credit.

I got approved for the card & was able to make the purchase right away using a redirect link. Got the actual card a week later, item must be ordered within 30 days.

What was pre-auth->shipped turnaround time for the iPhone 7 or other recent Apple releases?

I think it's different depending on where in the cycle you are. For example, a lot of people who ordered early enough to get launch-day delivery reported getting charged a day or two before. In my case, both with the iPhone 7 Plus and Apple Watch Series 2; both which arrived several weeks after launch, I got the pre-auth and "Preparing for Shipment" the same day, with the item listing "shipped" by the next day. It wasn't more than a couple of days after I got the charge that I got the product.

BUT!

1) Not a Mac
2) Not a day-one-delivery
3) We don't have a 'launch day' for these Mac's, just a broad "two or three week" window.

I think point 3 complicates things a bit.

It's funny. I've been checking all day. Absolutely nothing I do is going to change when it comes in. Knowing that it's shipped or not is futile and useless. But I'm still not gonna stop doing it!

I ordered two minutes after the even and no charge here either.

What time did that go through (or your best estimate)?

Sometime earlier today. The order is still listed as Processing, though.

I may be wrong, but I thought some people were able to figure out where their orders were with iPhones when plugging in their order numbers into UPS's website? Is this the case? I do not recall exactly how to do it or what combination was necessary, but I wonder if it would work here.

Unfortunately, that only works with iPhone orders. When you pre-order an iPhone, they ship it out but don't update your status to shipped.

Here, no one is even at preparing for shipment. Presumably anyone who was just charged can still cancel their order if they wish. I don't think we know what the charges mean until orders go into preparing for shipment.

If you don't buy anything immediately you can access it again before the card arrives by going to the Apple financing page and clicking "Check status or access your credit". Just put your information in and it'll redirect you withthe card ready to use at checkout.

I spoke too soon! I just checked my account and it's listed as Temporary Auth. Hope yours goes through soon.

I've got a strange pending charge of £164.82 by Apple - Though I don't think this is Apple Care as I had this discounted.

Cool thanks. Yeah, I've mostly been procrastinating by organizing files, reading this thread, and checking my order status. I should get some work done.

I went back through my emails and it looks like I was charged at 1am and I ordered roughly 30 minutes after the keynote. Set it for pick up in San Francisco, CA on the 25th. Hope it'll show up next week.

You don't have to use immediately. You can still access it before you get the credit card on a later day

Noticed I'm fifth person to say this. Sorry

Very disappointed no-one in the UK has been charged. I hope we don't get screwed over with shipping dates again like we were with the MacBook in 2015.

Anyway, it's 2AM here, time to hit the sack. Fingers crossed I wake up to a charge notification!
