Like many people on here, I'm eagerly awaiting the ordering and arrival of the new 2016 rMBP 15". It seems almost guaranteed that it will be unveiled during the event next week. It would be amazing if order started in the next few days after the event, and there was enough supply for some people to go pick up in stores and some people get in the mail. Due to the lack of leaked parts and pictures, I'm starting to guess that supply would be strained at the beginning though. Most likely there will be two regular 15" models, one with a dGPU and one without using only a iGPU. The standard configurations will probably be more readily available as opposed to the BTO configurations. The two dates to guess would be with my guesses:

    1. When ordering will start? 10/28 (along with new headphones including AirPods, etc.)
    2. When available/shipping? 11/4

I would imagine it will be in stores and online for order immediately like the notebooks have been for almost every release over the last 6 years.

I guess ordering starts right after the event (27th October).

In case of availability i would like to see them as soon as possible, but it's more realistic to expect shipping in mid November.
Just in time for the Winter Sales. These are important for Apple to raise the number of selled Macs again after a long time. ;)

I'm guessing it will follow similar patterns from previous launches. So I'd guess pre-orders will open either straight away or on Friday 28th October. Delivery early/mid November for MacBooks, if you want 512GB/1TB storage options then late November/December. For iMacs, there is usually severely constrained supplies, which means delivery any time from late November to January.

I am not expecting the MacBook Pro to include Kaby Lake CPU's as they will not be released until Q1/Q2 2017, so I will probably hold off until the refresh.

If we were to get the 13" base models however (no configuration), could we just step into the store the same day on the 27th and get it? Or do we have to wait as well?

very possibly. The big question is when will Apple make them available. I think given the lateness of the year and how close we are to the holiday season, the odds are high that stock configurations will be available on day 1.

I like this 'same day' stuff. A major purchase, no doubt

I hope this is the case, but I feel like there is a lot of pent up demand for this revision. So it's very likely demand is high. The unknown is supply. I imagine Apple wants most common configurations to be readily available same day in store by the time holiday shopping starts. That's about a month away. I'm guessing the first couple weeks might be difficult. I'll leave work early to go get my new 15" Thursday if I can though. :)

Add me to the same day camp. If history is any guide, this is a good bet.

I hope the Macbook Pro 13" and AirPods are available right after the event. Will be travelling from November the 5th. Don't want to miss that. Fingers crossed.

Why not wait until Thursday, rather than guess and speculate?

Because it's fun to talk about while we wait.

I think it might be a few weeks before they ship if they don't want any leaks that badly. Same day availability isn't unrealistic, though.

My guess is that if Apple finalizes Sierra 12.1 on Monday, they'll probably be available right away.

Source on pent up demand? I keep seeing this everywhere and I'm not sure consumer spending patterns on PCs supports this notion.

Yes and time is money (That will be .50 for the last 5 seconds)

Seriously, I think maybe same day. Best to think this way, as to be prepared with card

It's just from personal observation. I could be wrong, but I know several people that have been waiting for this refresh. Check out the ridiculouslous Skylake thread too.

Maybe to you it is, just as reading your posts are to me. But to each their own. Carry on.

Silly me, I thought guesses and rumors were in the same ballpark.

Anyone have experience on how long BTO Macbook Pro's were delivered after the past Retina model went up for order? Assuming BTO orders are available this Thurs 10/27, I'm wondering if I would have the laptop in hand before I leave for a trip a week later on Thurs 11/3.

I'm guessing from past releases that I'll be able to go into the Apple Store for a "stock" model before I leave but wondering about BTO, specifically.

I have experience in this area. For BTO, even if you order the moment they become available, the chances are low that you'll receive it in that timeframe. It's possible, just not likely.

I wonder how long before the new rMBP will show up on Amazon. I just got a CC which have 10% CB on Amazon that I want to use.

I second for Amazon. I get 5% cash back with my Amazon Store Card + no sales tax. Double dip for me. But typically it takes a good month or two before new Apple products show up on Amazon. At least thats how it was with the iPad Pro.

It has been a while since I bought a Mac on Amazon, but in 2011 or 2012 (can't recall which) I bought a new MacBook Air off Amazon the day after it was released. I dunno if they still hit that fast or not though.
