2016 Macbook Pro 15" w/Touchbar
2.6GHz/512GB/16GB/R460

Just a couple of quick thoughts:

  • Space gray is really subtle. I'd really have preferred space black like my iPhone 7 Plus but it is nice to have another color option. At first glance its not really that much darker than silver
  • The keyboard is surprisingly loud and clicky sounding. Having recently had the 2nd gen rMB 12", this keyboard is definitely an improvement though I don't type quite as fast or as accurately yet. The LED backlighting is so much better compared to the older MBPs
  • Performance as compared to my 2015 15" doesn't seem much different so far, though I really don't do anything particularly taxing
  • TouchID is already saving me a lot of time by not having to enter my password every time it comes back from sleep
  • The display is notably brighter and the bezels are definitely smaller
  • The speakers are vastly improved
  • Touchbar is cool but its more of a novelty so far. I'm not quite used to it
  • Battery life estimates are way better than my previous macbooks (14 hours???)
so the problem or anybody who said the battery is worse than last generations are lying or did not let the indexing end? they told us we can have web surfing and light tasks for only 8 hours on the 15". So are you getting over 10 hours doing what?

I can't believe I'm spending all this money when I know damn well it's probably garbage :D

I think if Apple told me to lie down in busy traffic i'd probably think about it.
Looking at the brighter side, at least be happy that you have money to squander around

Some people don't even have money to spend

Agreed. This has prompted me to consider making my master password more complex. It's pretty good but if I don't have to enter it constantly on my phone or my computer it could stand to be larger.
[doublepost=1479182513][/doublepost]While using it have you noticed the palm detection going off when you aren't expecting it? I seem to be somehow triggering palm detection with how I rest my hands near the monstrous trackpad. It's quite jarring when the trackpad doesn't give the haptic feedback. It suddenly feels broken even though the machine has done it intentionally. I can't replicate it intentionally but it has happened at least 30 times today.
I haven't had any problems with palm rejection thus far, or with the cursor randomly moving places as a few others have.

You've spent too much time on internet forums. Please point out to me where in my statement I said anything even remotely like what you're implying.

When I said (14 hours????) it was in reference to the battery remaining display. I never said I was getting that much out of it however the battery life is anecdotally better than my mid 2015.

Pick a fight elsewhere with someone who has even a modicum of interest in arguing over which version of a laptop is "best" and why anyone should give the furry end of a rat's behind what someone on the internet chooses to spend their money on.

How is the keyboard clearance from the screen? Do the keys leave marks on it?
I've read impressions from other folks that the clearance is fine and doesn't leave any marks on the screen.

I'm waiting for my BTO 13" to arrive but I've been using a 2015 12" MacBook for around a year and a half now and have never seen marks on the screen left by the keys, for what that's worth.

Also interesting fact. When I look at About This Mac I actually show my 2.6GHz BTO with the Radeon 460 as having Iris Pro 580 graphics, not Intel HD 530.

I'll have to take one when I get home, but seriously no joke. This is exactly what it says:

Graphics:
AMD Radeon Pro 460 4096 MB

Intel Iris Pro Graphics 580 1536 MB
Woah, this is huge and unexpected news.

Also, 14 hours of battery life with the 460???? That's what I like to hear!

Thats just what the laptop was reporting the first time I had it on battery. I'd take that with an enormous chunk of sodium chloride. I haven't had it on battery enough to make any reasonable claims about real life longevity

Does it really have iris pro 580? why would they say that it has the HD 530?
EDIT: That would mean that rather than having the i7-6700HQ it would have the i7-6770HQ

Unless MacOS is lying, I can guarantee thats what it says. I was as surprised as anyone. No troll and will post screenshots when I get home.

Also interesting that while plugged in it shows both GPUs in "about this mac." On my 2015 it just showed either the intel or the AMD based on the situation but never both

That is strange. Because in all the geekbench reports I only see the 6700hq, 6820hq, and 6920hq none of which have iris pro 580

I just find it shocking that no one else has reported this? You sure you wasn't dreaming? :D

Cool, awaiting your screenshot. This is totally odd. Any more 2.6GHz units out there?

Taken with my phone since I don't have the screen shot software I usually use installed yet. Taken against google news as the background

That's great news. Could you run a Geekbench 4 Compute? We would have the definitive confirm.

Can you run a geekbench benchmark and post a link to the results? for the cpu, the dgpu and igpu please

EDIT: you can use cmd+shift+3 to take a full screen screen shot
cmd+shift+4 is for selecting a part of the screen to grab

Given that processor, there is no way that it has iris pro 580, it is without a doubt a typo or some other problem
