Do the 2016 MacBook Pro models get an official in store price drop now? Or do they cost exactly the same as the new Kaby lake model? Because otherwise I can't imagine how they'd get rid of the extra stock

I don't think Apple's going to sell the 2016's in store. They'll move them to their refurb site, or third-party sellers.

As a 2016 13" TB owner, I don't mind the new 2017s at all. It's a fairly small update overall.

The big news for me was the official external GPU support in MacOS. I just bought the external GPU box that Apple sells to registered developers and once it comes in the mail, my little 2016 13" will have access to more graphics power than most full size gaming laptops.

External GPUs was big news. It allows any MacBook to be upgraded. The fact that Apple is finally embracing it is proof enough for me that they are starting to care more about the Pro users.

Jumping from the 2015 to the 2016 was a great leap forward

I don't think most people considered it that big of a jump. I went from a 2012 Unibody to a maxed 2016. I wasn't blown away by the improvements... pleased to be sure for the extra speed, but it's not exactly running circles around my 2012.

In the past when I've waited over 4 years to upgrade, I've always been blown away at the difference, but we're just not going to see improvements to CPU chips happen the way we've gotten accustomed to in the early part of this century.

This is fantastic.

What kind of work do you do on it?

No one knows till it's torn down by ifixit or something... It's safe to assume it still is. I'm not concerned I "only" have 2TB of storage, oh the horror.

Yea my buddy has the 2016 with 2TB, only 500GB free, and probably will fill it in a year. Then the 'horror' is do you dump that for another one. Would be nice to have a slot there like the lower end MBP does so you can slot in a 4TB readily.

I'm a little bummed. I can upgrade anytime, but there's no point.

Jumping from the 2015 to the 2016 was a great leap forward, but this is a pretty minimal update.

Oh well...the next cycle is coming fast!

I was thinking I'd keep my 2016 13", but since I was within 14 days I returned it this afternoon and ordered the 2017. Will arrive Wednesday.

I'm looking forward to the al bump in speed and graphics. The faster SSD will be nice too.

The Radeon pro 560 is on paper at least identical to a gtx 965m so when you're spending $2500+ on a crapbook think about that... why couldn't they put the Radeon pro 570 in it... that would make it what I have been waiting for. But instead they just continue to launch low spec high price netbooks that are not able to really do much.. it makes the surface book with 965m a much more attractive option it does much more and costs less...

Well if you're buddy is filled up his drive that fast, he must be creating content on his MacBook Pro.... He should have no problem getting a super fast external SSD drive. Apple is the only one who even offers 2TB of SSD storage, everyone else maxes out at 1TB. Besides, it would be smart to move stuff he's not working on right now to a external drive to make room for his new content on it.

I've never even heard of that. I probably wouldn't buy something like a MacBook Pro from that site (I'm guessing it's a website). That being said I see $500 discounts on high end 2016 2TB models which makes more sense. New from authorized dealers. I think it's a steal for someone who's not gaming.

swappa is reputable and well known..

Here is a screenshot of 3 recent sales from today: Macbooks no longer hold a resale edge over the competition.. I mean it's pretty bad when BNIB machines are barely getting $1,000..

SurfaceBook with performance base costs the same as the 15" MBP and comes with a low-power dual-core CPU. The only thing it "does more" is having a longer battery life.

P.S. The rest of your post is such an incredible nonsense that I don't even know what to say. These laptops are on par or faster than most 15" workstation laptops on the market...

Calling the 2016-2017 MacBook Pro a netbook is LMAOOO. You clearly don't own one.

460->560: It's using a new third-generation 14nm process, which means lower power consumption and higher clocks. Also it has 2 extra compute units (14->16).

The Pro 460 also has 16 compute units. Both are full Polaris 11.

Here is a breakdown for those looking for a comparison

Radeon pro 555 = gtx 960m
560 = gtx 965m
570 = gtx 1060
580 = ??? (It has the same memory bandwidth as the 570/ gtx 1060 216, lower than the gtx 1070 at 256gb and lower TFlops 5.5 vs 5.9 on 1070

Good move. Get the most for your dollar when possible!

No I don't because they are too weak. The only thing they can do is surf the net.. what type of pro work are you going to get done on that? A 965m is not enough

The 570 seems to be an underclocked desktop RX 570, the 580 an underclocked desktop RX 580. Fairly formidable stuff for the iMac.

They are overpriced garbage... I was hoping this would be a good refresh for them but it's not... still overpriced garbage. And my post is nonsense how so? Because I said they should have put the 570 in them to at least make them as powerful as the lowest end windows pcs?

Shooting and editing 4K video and editing 50 Megapixel files from a Canon 5DSr. All without any issues. It's extremely fast.

Netbook? I wonder what this guy does for a living?

I'm shooting for Tiffany in a few days. The machines being used on that shoot? Two 2016 15" Touchbar units tethered to Nikon D810's. We'll be running LR and PS on both during the shoot.

I guess I could use a Netbook for that! LOL! How about one of the expensive new Dell units that locked up on us a few weeks back. Windows remains horrific. Just trying showing up to a pro job with something less than a MBP. You can sing songs all you want about Dell this and HP that. Nobody cares. MBP just works. These are tools. I don't care about clock speeds or other nonsense. I need a system that can open huge files, handle layers in multiple apps and sync properly to pro photo gear.
That's called MAC.

Lol not even close man

Radeon pro 570 = 4.5 TFlops with a 217gb memory band with
Radeon Rx 570. = 5.1 TFlops with 256gb bandwidth

Radeon pro 580 = 5.5 TFlops with 217gb bandwidth
Radeon Rx 580 = 6.2 TFlops with 256gb bandwidth

The pro 580 is more of a rx 570 and slightly less powerful than a 1070 still a great card I'm okay with that if this 2017 MacBook refresh hat a pro 570 I would buy it right now

Don't know how you're doing that because you can say what you want a 965m is crap and I work with maya and im a video editor and trying to edit 4K video was a struggle on my old laptop that had a 965m I had to upgrade it .. I'm not bashing it its fact. I have the razer blade pro with a gtx 1080 that costs less than a maxed out 2016 MacBook Pro and I can blow whistles around it. But I'm not here to measure junk with anyone I'm just stating facts about how behind apple still is with their MacBooks
