I find it hilarious that you praise the looks of the computers and iphone's here and in other threads, yet you put down the glowing apple and call it a fashion statement? Do you not realize that apple's devices are sold as fashion statements to the masses? Yes they work better than their competitors for the most part but you're only lying to yourself if you think that most don't think of them, and apple's advertises them, as fashion statements.

You only proved you don't know anything about computers.

Somehow, I don't feel that in those places, Apple's marketshare is at 7.1%...

Oh! Of course, it's a fashion statement!

Gotta be trendy in my home office with my iMac!

Well this explains Apple’s stance on not using 2018 keyboards as replacement for defective 2016/2017. And I love the backlit Apple logo. Sad to see that go. I actually think a nice touch on the iPad Pros would be to add the backlit Apple logo as a styling cue to differentiate from the iPad design wise.

When you’re a carpenter making a beautiful chest of drawers, you’re not going to use a piece of plywood on the back, even though it faces the wall and nobody will ever see it. You’ll know it’s there, so you’re going to use a beautiful piece of wood on the back. Literally put together with tape!

I am interested in knowing how the narrower and longer speakers sound now in comparison to the 2016-2017 notebooks.
I bought the new base model 13" MacBook Pro and I will tell you the speakers are much louder and so clear, and have a deeper bass sound. I had the 2016 model before going to this new one and love this updated model. Hope this helps

Also just an additional note I had the 2016 15" model of the MacBook Pro and bought the 13" model this time and it is much faster then my previous 15" model. Amazing difference!

Nothing looks better than Macs inside.

Made without compromises looks like that... I'm an electrical engineer and their hardware is always pure pornography.

The components they use are hand picked, every capacitor, inductor, mosfet, etc. is of good quality, the layouts are without compromise (means they are using expensive multi-layer PCB's), there's basically no space wasted, no random cables or wires going from one place to another, the air paths are unrestricted, etc.

And LOL @ the repair score. We know iFixit hates Apple, won't stop anybody from buying a MBP.

I hated it.

Nothing says more "pro" than a glowing Apple logo, it's a work computer, not a fashion statement. Social escalators can have their iPhones in crocodile leather cases.[/QUOTEWrong

Wrong forum for justification.

So you think a few anecdotal photos prove a point? I could also post a photo in Starbucks where every machine is a Mac, yet no one is a professional.

Yes, the majority of modern tech companies exclusively use Macs. However, they do not represent the majority of Mac sales.

Well, I'd say it has nothing to do with "hating" Apple. The machines have become notoriously hard to fix or repair, and for the reasons they state. The iFixit folks will give any hardware item a low repair score if the hardware is difficult to repair or modify. Here's a link to iFixit "repairability" scores for various laptops:

https://www.ifixit.com/laptop-repairability

Apple didn't consistently get low scores until 2015 (scores of 1 or 2), and they were scoring as high as 7 in 2011 and 2012. I would imagine that the pre-unibody Apple laptops scored even higher, but I couldn't find data going back that far. I very much appreciate iFixit for their contributions regarding accessibility, repair-ability, and upgrade-ability of computer hardware. I've always found them to be accurate and helpful for fixing home computer hardware, and if they say something is difficult to repair, I would take their advice seriously.

Sorry about the empty post (still a newbie here).

I'm with you Timmey. Apple's internals are just nice to look at. I've been repairing medical devices for 30+ years but I still take my stuff to Apple for repairs.

And the glowing Apple always bothered me. There must have been some effect on the screen illumination.

You mean good quality since China has been making Apple products for many years now
Indeed, and it has led me to wonder if the current Administration's trade wars with China will lead to hefty price increases of all the electronic hardware manufactured there, not only by Apple, but generally by most computer and smartphone producers.

It's hard to get people to understand the tradeoff between designing for repairability and designing for tiny-ness. More glue and fewer screws. My 2013 27" iMac is getting warmer (CPU=172F) and prolly needs to have the fan and ductwork cleaned. It would be nice to have an access cover over the air system.
