I've got some news!
I took my laptop to service and got it back today.
No issues with ports.
They had tested it with several devices and it passed all Apple tests.
There was note that some users have had these issues with LG usb-c displays.
Right ports uses different chipset to drive display and atm nothing can be done for this problem.
Only option is to wait firmware update from Apple or display manufacturer and there is no part to replace that could fix the problem.

That's not my case. I was using the display with the ports on the right side – it just stopped working. My 4K TV doesn't work too (on the right side).
My USB3 disk is rarely detected on the right side, and if it is detected, with USB2 speed (up to 480 mb/s).
I have 2018 Macbook Pro at work – everything is fine with the right side.

Did you test it at the genius bar or send it in for more extensive testing. I did the former and everything passed but was told that there are more extensive tests they could do at repair HQ.

Same here. LG27UL850, MBP 2018, Mac OS 10.15 Catalina, USB-C to USB-C direct connection, 30Hz on the right side, 60Hz on the left side. Randomly I do not get 60Hz on the left side.
Changing the scaling settings for the display helps. If I jump between "Standard" and "Scaled" I get my 60 Hz back. But this is not working for the right side.

Same monitor, same MacBook, same OS, same connection and same problem.
Did you find any solution? Thanks

No. Not yet. I bought a longer cable and that “works” for me. But I’d also like to have a solution where I could use all ports.
Any idea how we can put this on apple’s agenda?

I don't know if the issue is due to the monitor or MacBook.
I returned the monitor to Amazon and they will refund me. I'll do some tests with other usb-c monitors and if there will be something interesting I'll write here.
Thank you for the reply!

Add me to this list. Just want to thank those in this thread for the information here. I too was perplexed by this, but thankful to find out that the left side should work.

Any news here? Big Sur hasn't changed it. So I think there is a hardware-linked problem? Or its just not meant to be working on the right side? Has anyone seen updates for the monitor software? Did that help?
