i was talking about NEW iphones
And yes, the iphone Plus will take the price tag of the current iphone X,and the 5.8" will have a price cut of 100$

We'll see.

Classic Tim Cook hate.

2017 iPad at $329; iPhone 7 and 6S series dropping $100 just 2 months ago, Series 1 Apple Watch at $249, AirPods at $159, iPhone SE dropping from $399 to $349

You don’t realize gross margin has decreased from over 40% when Cook took over to less than 38% in the last quarter, do you?

The point wasn't about margins more a case of Cooks desperate need to please Wall Street and are you seriously congratulating him because a two year old phone has had a $100 price cut? :D

There is SO much wrong with this article.

1.) Not 10% more powerful. It would be 10% more energy.
2.) Apple can already make non rectangular batteries. They advertised it well with the 'terraced battery'.
3.) Apple does not need LG to do squat. They get most of their cells from revolving smaller Chinese suppliers.

The issue isn't a technological one. It's cost. Non-rectangular cells mean that the electrodes cannot be 'wound'. This requires stacking electrodes which produces a lot more waste and requires a lot more automation.

I don’t remember what the terraced batteries look like, but if they consist of different-sized rectangles stacked on top of each other (like a Mayan stepped pyramid, for example), I don’t think that counts as non-rectangular, as each set of layers is still rectangular. Probably don’t run into the same production issues. If the terraced batteries do have non-rectangular layers, then you are right.

Would prefer 10% lighter.

Are you just trolling? Is the phone too heavy for you?

I would plea for a replaceable batt in that scenario (+ microcel for live exchange)
Which doesn't rule out your Powerbank btw

I’m not a big fan of replaceable battery, mainly because for a battery to be replaceable, it needs to have extra outer casing. More often than not, the other components around it needs to have extra casing as well to stop the user from messing up a component. That adds bulk and useless plastic inside the iPhone that would otherwise have been thinner or housed a bigger battery. Seems like a big hassle for not much gain.

Same as the irregular shaped, L-batts.
Sounds like a challenge that any dormant design department of a few hundred people could take.
(who was the guy that showed anything could be achieved, if really pursued...)

Your desperate need to find fault with Cook was your failed, unsupported point, and the 7 isn’t a two year old phone.

Can I just enjoy the current gen without constant articles about minor upgrades on a phone coming out a year from now?

With any kind of battery cells, you can't just take it out as is and use it as a removable battery. Most non-removable batteries have essentially a sheet of plastic to cover the cells while phones with replaceable batteries needs to have a thick outer shell to protect it when it's not inside the phone, like the one in Galaxy S5. This is not a problem the you can design yourself out of.

Just curious, why do you come to MacRumors if you’re not interested in rumors about new developments? Sure, the phones improve every year and we don’t need to read detailed speculation/leaks about every little thing, but that’s why a site like this exists. For those who are interested.
I wasn't commenting on the site as a whole, just the article.

Hopefully the battery will be more powerful. it's annoying to have a smartphone that can not hold a day.

I’m thinking it’s a typo as well. The article wording has room for improvement.

I’m guessing they wrote two-cell because the attached photo mentioning two-cell but it still makes no sense.

Now I’m wondering why make a bigger LCD screen? How would the human interface guidelines adapt for the change in size?

Yeah, the bigger LCD version makes no sense to me. It'd be even more unwieldy than an 8 Plus.
