Yes the MBA has the T2 kernal panic. Mine is 4 months old and has crashed about 30 times. I try to copy the log every time so I have info for Apple. Apple online help says that if its a hardware problem the computer had a one year warranty. I will be taking it back when I get a chance. I need to use the computer for work and the Apple store is a long way away.

Is it possible to fix this in newer versions of OSX? They can just turn this damn chip off
No, they cannot turn this damn chip off, because a lot of features take advantage of this T2 chip.

For instance, when you take a voice recording, when you use the camera or the microphone in a FaceTime or Skype video call, all the audio and video processing go through that T2 chip in the models that have it.

Also, forget about the Touch ID, because the security enclave is in there on the newer MacBook Air and Pro.

I don't have this issue so far, I use Mac Mini and MBA 2018, even with Bootcamp. I disabled any boot secure, to have the possibility to boot from TB3 SSD image, just in case TM didn't backup or have any boot related issues.

Yea, I had never even heard of this problem on the MBP, until running into it myself here on the MBA. I really hope it is something that can be fixed, because other than this problem I've really loved this computer so far. It has worked wonderfully for general productivity,
The Bridge OS kernel panic - that starts as follows - happens to my 2018 MBA with a clean OS install about once per day. Occasionally twice a day but some days it doesn't happen.

{"caused_by":"macos","macos_system_state":"running","bug_type":"210","os_version":"Bridge OS 3.3 (16P3133)","timestamp":"2019-02-12 15:22:56.51 +0000","incident_id":"DF83F908-CCC4-4715-B465-F2AE610E3EDB"}

In all cases the MBA has been streaming video/audio to an Apple tv using Airplay and always has been tethered to an iPhone.

The on-line Apple Support guy said that it was the first time he had come across the problem and they had not received any information from Apple about it. I said how can that be when there the T2/Bridge OS issue has been known for about a year and there is a thread of over 100 pages on MacRumours about it affecting the MBP...?

He just told me to do the basic checks... which not surprisingly turned up nothing .. disc first aid, using a different user account (get same prob), resetting SMC and NVRAM/PRAM, using Apple Diagnostics...

I wonder whether there is any point in taking the MBA back and getting a replacement - that may have the same issue - or to just hope/wait for a fix...

After half a year of not using the 13” MacBook Pro 2018 (bought in July 2018) due to constant crashes (have done a clean install of macOS 10.14.1, 10.14.2, 10.14.3) I gave up. It was once in repairs (back in October when it would not boot at all) - got it back with the same problems. And this February after getting it second time to repairs I was told that a full motherboard replacement is needed... I was saving each chat with Apple support, every conversation is filmed on video etc...

At present moment it is my lawyer who is dealing with the whole situation since I am not willing to use a completely unreliable poss of a product which costs 4300 Euro to start with.

My advice to anyone - buy a MacBook Pro with the T2 chip only if you really really need to have one now. If you do - purchase Apple Care+. If you have a crash during the first week of use (or couple of crashes) - run to the store to return it.

I still have my very first MacBook Pro 15 (late 2013 maxed out model with integrated Iris GPU only) and it was the best computer purchase I’ve done. I do like the 2016 13 MacBook Pro which is running like a champ for 3 years now. It is just so very sad that 2018 13 MacBook Pro can be fundamentally unusable since otherwise I believe it is the best premium portable notebook taking the specs into account (very powerful and good thermals while at it).

As for myself - I will wait until Ice Lake 13’’ (or maybe 14’’) MacBook Pro is released with 32 Gb of RAM and T3 chip. Hopefully Apple manages to polish hardware/firmware by then...
