Just picked up a 2018 MacBook Pro and for some reason the brightness slider isn't working. I may try downgrading from Mojave but it seemed to be an issue in High Sierra too. My MacBook is on Mojave and does not have such an issue. It is pretty disappointing to have on a 3 day old $2800 laptop.

why would u put a beta on a brand new macbook, its an know issue with majave dont buy a expensive new macbook and run un finnished software, its no were near ready

Mojave beta has this issue so pretty much your fault for installing the beta.

Mojave may still be getting ready for the T2 in the new notebooks and iMac Pro. People are requested to wait for a couple more betas before installing on a 2018 MBP. That slider is working just fine on T1 in my MBP 2016 and likely the 2017 as well, using the same T1 chip.

Do you know what is a beta?

Yea I know why I don't really use these forums anymore. Why does everyone except macintoshmac have to be such an ******? For F***s sake, all I needed to know is that it was a known issue as googling it doesn't show it up right away.

The Touch Bar runs on an ARM chip (T2?) and has its own firmware which is installed when a new macOS is installed. I'm not sure if you can really downgrade the Touch Bar with the macOS downgrade. That's probably why your problem persisted even when you downgrade back to high Sierra.

Wow! Anyways, apologies if I sounded rude. Etiquette is a little different here compared to face to face and actually meant that without trying to insult.

Install Brightness Slider from the App Store. It's free and will temporarily fix your brightness issue.

Well it's because you say "It is pretty disappointing to have on a 3 day old $2800 laptop." while simultaneously running a β and not knowing for sure if the issue was present on the OS that was shipped originally with your Mac :p

I had this problem (either I started a new thread or added to an existing one) with my 2018 MBP bought a week or so ago. It's fixed in beta 5, thankfully, as Lotti says.
