2018 MBP DisplayPort/HDMI Signal Issues - Fix Included!

Hey I know that this is an old thread but I am encountering the same problem and I’ve been struggling.
I’m on BigSur, and I can’t seem to be able to move the DisplayVendorID folder from my desktop to the override file, I’ve tried to disable scrutil, the folder simply won’t move! I need help. I checked the overrides folder and I don’t even have an old version of the DisplayVendorID file that I need.
If anyone could help me I would be forever grateful.

I am experiencing this as well with a brand new MacBook Pro 16" attempting to connect to a Dell 2709W. I'd been using this monitor for years through DisplayPort on my old MacBook Pro without issues. Now it maxes out at 720p. Any workarounds for this?

I believe for Big Sur the file goes in a path starting from \Library and create the same sub folders from in the instructions if any don't exist.

sudo mkdir -p /Library/Displays/Contents/Resources/Overrides
