Just make sure you read the Cricket contract as they are not $169 for the heck of it.

I, too, have been with Apple from their first iPhone to today.

The introductions are not as exciting for me, maybe I am getting older or maybe I have seen too many to get that excited. Do think the 8 will cause quite a stir. Still up in the air if I will get the 8 or maybe even the 7S+. Like the 7+ form and would not mind using it for another year of two.
16 Gb iPhone SE for 169. 64 Gb iPhone SE for 229. All you have to do is buy a plan for one month $30 minimum and the phone is yours unlocked. It's a pretty sweet deal

Does sound good and I hope you enjoy. After using my 6+ and now 7+ it would be hard to go back to the screen on the SE.
It was hard for me as well. Although having unlimited data on the ATT network for $55 a month and a new iPhone with 2GB of RAM and a year of apple care for $229 makes it easier. I also have the iPad Pro 12.9 for media consumption.

When you factor in the gain from the sale of an IP7 or IP7+, the net cost is not that great. Right now it appears that perhaps $600 will be realistic for the sale of my IP7.

Nope. Can't meet demand and therefore cant not make 7s. Pretty simple really.

There's no evidence they can't meet the demand. Only a bunch of conflicting rumours with the majority suggesting a two month delay. That's actually no different to last years launch as there were still availability issues for some variants of the iPhone 7 months after launch.

And, come launch day, do you think people would see a six week delivery time for an iPhone 8, sigh and buy a 7s instead? No, they wouldn't. You'd see this forum full of frantic people refreshing the order page every ten seconds for days on end, but everyone else would simply order the iPhone 8 and wait for it to arrive.

The iPhone is already over priced. By a lot.
Is it though? Samsung devices are just as expensive.

S8 = $720-$750
S8 Plus = $840-$850

Pretty much on par for the middle level storage of both the 7 and 7 Plus, and iPhone gets you double the base storage for that price.

You don't understand how many iPhone sell or how few OLED displays they have to make iPhone 8. The iPhone 7s is a business decision. The decision went like this: do we just make the iPhone 8, not have anywhere near enough, and lose massive money, or do we make an iPhone 7s and 7s Plus as well, profiting far more due to adequate supply? They went with the latter.

Thanks for your informed insight into the intricate financial forecasting and market research involved in Apple's product development.

And yet you still completely fail to grasp a very simple concept..

Demand exists for a redesigned iPhone with an OLED display and reduced-bezel chassis. That demand can't be plugged by releasing an alternative that doesn't offer either of the differentiating selling points.

Nope you fail to understand that demand won't be near as high for a $1,000 base-price smartphone, no matter what the design is. Hence the 7s and 7s Plus taking home tens of millions of sales because they are hundreds of dollars cheaper.

Maybe you guys should chill out a bit.

They sell in the millions. For several months after release they sell quicker than they can make them.

If anything the iPhone is under-priced.

I hate it when people say the iPhone is clearly not overpriced because it sells so well, that doesn't say anything about price. It means people find themselves having to pay what it costs, because they want the item. It's still over priced. All Apple products should be cheaper. But they sell because people want them so much, not because the price is right.

But at the same time, I'm sure Apple would find a price people are unwilling to pay, and I'm got a feeling they might find it this year. Apple have got to get their heads out of the clouds if they want to survive...consumers aren't as dumb as they used to be, and will stop being willingly ripped off. Especially with the crappy output of Tim's Apple.

Having to pay what it costs? They are willing to pay what it costs and that means everything about price. No one is forcing anyone to buy these. It's not overpriced if they are selling as well as or better than Apple had hoped. And that is all that matters.

Cragio85 had some good points though. Primarily depends on what Apple will have available stock for the OLED model. Given the fact this will be a major redisign with all new features, the OLED model will be back ordered for months. Guaranteed. And $1,000 OLED iPhone will be broken into payments. Most won't even consider the affordability, because they want it that badly. Period.

Sure, the 7S will have its core demographic who are not interested the OLED model for a cheaper entry price point, but factor in the hype, demand, Apple's supply chain restraints (Which happens at every launch) for this new 5.8 OLED model, good luck even trying to Obtain one if someone doesn't preorder. And let's not forget, it has an Apple logo on it concocted with a new model iPhone, it will be pure madness for the demand. That's a fact, and Apple knows it.

In the end game, it's the latest and greatest. The sole attention will be on this OLED model, not the 7S, even if it's "Selling more." It's not much of a secret where the sole focus where a newly redesigned iPhone that will shatter numbers in terms of what someone wants, When a second thought doesn't come to mind what someone can afford. Supply vs demand. Demand will take hold with the OLED model. Simple logic.

I don't think this means that the price is right, though. People want the products badly enough to willingly overpay, even though they know they're overpaying.

The below quote kinda just proved the point I'm trying to make.

Most won't even consider the affordability, because they want it that badly. Period.

Apple have put themselves in a position which makes ripping off consumers incredibly easy, because for years now consumers have been a mass of moron zombies who'll buy anything shiny and new. But that's changing, and the public's perception of Apple is changing.

Apple will intentionally restrict the availability to create buzz and demand.

According to rumors, Apple will release 3 iPhones this year, the 7S, 7S plus and the "iPhone Edition" / "Pro".

The 7S and 7S Plus will have the same price as last year's 7 and 7 Plus but the "iPhone Edition" will cost ~$1000 according to rumors..

But what about next year's iPhone 8? I'm sure apple will use the same design as the iPhone Edition with slight changes to it and they will be priced the same as the 7S and the 7S plus ( maximum $100 more ) so in 2018 we'll get a better version of the "iPhone Edition" with less price? do you think they will produce "iPhone Edition/Pro 2" alongside the 8 in 2018?

Do you think Apple will continue the cycles with 3 iPhones? And what is your opinion about what I said above? Should we wait for the 8 as it'll be the same as this year's "Edition" with better features and less price? Or buy the Edition?

How are we supposed to know how to answer this question ? Ask Apple

All those that are asking if they should wait for next years' iPhone, I say definitely do. It'll mean more availability for the people that really want one this year.
