Ordered the updated AirPods with the wireless charging case and received email confirmation on March 20, 7:18 AM MDT. There was no in-store pickup option. March 27-29 is the current ETA, Order in Progress.

There is no in-store process as they won't have them available until next week. But once Apple Store receives them in stock then that will change. I too, have ordered the AirPods with the wireless charging case and mine is also set for March 27 - 29.
I ordered the version with the wireless charging case (in case iPhone 11 comes with power share feature lol). It says 26-28 March (UK).
Ordered a pair with the wireless charging case, delivery is 3/27-3/29. Just checked the store and this set is now delivery Apr 2-5 and the standard pair is still delivery 3/27-3/29.
Surprised to see how many people are buying the pair with the wireless case versus the standard. I am glad to just set my airpods down finally on my charging pad instead of grabbing a lightning cable. Although they charge super faster via cable and I hope same is true with wireless charging. hoping 10/15w charging is supported on these

I did exactly the same thing. I hope these AirPods have Bluetooth 5.0. I don't care about the color at all, pointing out to the rumors of future AirPods or the past rumors regarding AirPods 2.
While ordering mine I noticed that the ones with engraving will be delivered on the 26th and the ones without engraving on the 26-28.
Mine will be delivered between March 26-28. First I ordered them with the wireless charging case with the engraving, then I changed my mind and I cancelled the order and after that I ordered them again but without the engraving.

Ordered at 8:15am Arizona time and status is "preparing to ship" and credit card has been charged.
Be sure to check FedEx, too... at least in my area, release day iPhones and Watches come UPS, but almost everything else that I get from Apple comes FedEx.
