While choosing a laptop to use while learning both Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Photoshop (CS6) I found some videos saying that the MBAir that just came out can handle them both rather easily. But I haven't given up on the 13" MBPro since I'm hooked on the meaty keys and all the ports, especially since I just discovered a place to get one in mint condition. End of the day, the price isn't going to be too different, and I only care about performance.

From those with experience, would there be a huge performance boost either way, using one over the other? Is the older MBPro still that much more powerful even with the older hardware?

2015 MBPro 13" base model
2.7 GHz
8GB RAM
128 PCIE SSD
Intel Iris Graphics 6100

2019 MBAir 13" base model
1.6 GHz Dual Core
8GB RAM
128 GB Storage
Intel UHD Graphics 617

I know I'm comparing a PRO with an AIR, but they are about 4 years apart- and I'm not familiar with the practical difference or performance of the processors and graphics stuff. If I didn't mind the size and weight, isn't the MBPro the much more capable computer, by a good bit even still...? Just running it by those who would really know, before I bought something. Thanks!

Is there a 2019 MacBook Air already? Or are you talking about the 2018 Air with retina screen?
