2016-2017 were the worst
Keyboard gate and display cable gate

I think from 2019 apple is a little different company. A proper Mac pro and not that form over function fiasco from 2013.. ipad pro usbc connectivity and ipados more towards what users wanted.. iphones with proper battery life, proper camera performance and display
And the 16” will be the mbp that should be the 2018 version..not to say 2017

The biggest issue for me with this keyboard isn't the reliability, it's that terrible design.

I hate everything about this keyboard, the feeling, the flat, indistinguishable keys and the touchbar. Luckily I use my MBP connected to external monitors using external keyboards, so I can live with it.
My old MBP from 2014 got a couch machine in it's retirement and it's still a joy to use it, makes it even worse when you have the direct comparison

As a sidenote: I didn't have any issues with keys getting stuck or anything like that on my 2019 yet.

I held off as long as i could for the warranty work but had it done last summer.

i made a big stink in the store but was assured the early 2017 keyboard was only being replaced with a like kind unit.

I just got my 15" Pro Retina, mid 2012, out of retirement (16gb ram, i7, 512GB ssd) because I wanted a bigger screen than the 12" MacBook for home use. I was surprised. I thought it would feel slow and outdated, but it's very fast, extremely solid, has a wonderful keyboard and is a joy to use. The GPU still works perfectly -- don't know if it will go out, but until it does, I'm happy with it and would rather use it than a machine with a butterfly keyboard (the only real shortcoming of the 12" MacBook, which otherwise is a great computer). By the way, both machines work perfectly with Catalina. Even though my MacBook keyboard works, I find it easier to type on the 2012 MBP.
