I don’t get what purpose unboxing videos have to people, seriously it’s like watching someone else open a birthday or Christmas gift that has been previously taped. This nonsense has to stop seriously what a waste of causing greenhouse emissions to promote an “unboxing” of a product that one has barely changed from its previous generation on the packaging level and two there is no personal joy in someone else opening a product that is not a gift you gave, not a gift at all to the receiver and has no personal or emotional prolonged sentiment attached to it.

I still scratch my head as to what people find worthy of similar unboxing videos done by different people and posting it on YouTube for views to continue this nonsense. I get if there is something worthy like looking at thermal/internal design etc but an unboxing video gawd a new low for society and the worst is these companies actually send they products to these clowns for this purpose or they feel its worth making and posting a video of such. Substance please.

Rather than trust my personal needs by visiting a store that has these products where I can play and test with or order one online to try I am going to take the advice of some nobodies to make decisions for me, oh the excitement :rolls eyes:

Buyers, BE AWARE!! This is a 3rd Gen iPad situation all over again.

Not entirely. This iPad isn’t an underpowered experiment unlike the iPad 3. Sure, there might be a quick successor to this one, but it’s not the same situation.

Oh look, a giant iPhone is trying to become a laptop that their leaders want to replace ahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

WHO

CARES.

Almost nobody uses the rear camera on their iPad to begin with and LIDAR not going to change that. You want to bear fruit? Put it on an iPhone. They've had 2 years to deliver this total non-update, with a marginally better A12Z and some more RAM.

Who cares?

I would say people who are not encumbered with diminished or stunted imaginations.

What an excellent product by Apple, with the new keyboard / stand it makes for a compelling machine. Extremely portable with a huge touchscreen and it’s fast.
I’m not sure why there are comments regarding the iPad 3, I know people who had an iPad 3 happily for years, it entirely depends on your use.
But considering last years model was a massive performance boost then this new ‘iPad Pro’ isn’t going to be slow anytime soon either..

I find the iPad as one of Apples best creations in the companies history, particularly now with the new iPad OS.

Thank you for making two posts separating the pros from these guys. I only like Tom. The guy with the kids made me want to bang my head against a wall!

You do realize that the new keyboard is not yet available? I am pretty sure this isn’t a case of Apple maintaining a review embargo on the New keyboard folio. It would be more likely, if we weren’t 5-9 weeks away from the actual launch, so complaining that none of the reviewers are sharing thoughts or info on the new keyboard shouldn’t be surprising.

Same goes for the reviews of the iPad Pro’s themselves. I think it was MKBHD that said he’s only had his review unit for a couple of days, so again, it’s not surprising that there is limited testing done - especially when you factor in the upheaval we’re all experiencing due to the Coronavirus. YouTuber’s are no different, in dealing with the change and uncertainty, so you might want to cut them some slack right now as they figure out how to deal with the situation.

As far as anyone carrying around a trackpad with their iPad Pro, first of all, right now most people are not traveling with their iPads...or traveling at all, so it’s a moot point. I don’t think Apple is suggesting that anyone HAS to carry around a Magic Trackpad 2, but I can say that for me, the new cursor driven input is fantastic, especially when I’m at my desk working. I’ve actually pulled my iPad Pro 12.9” out of the old keyboard folio and have it on a stand on my desk, using an old BT Apple keyboard and new Magic Trackpad 2, plus Pencil, and it works great. When I want or need to get up, I simply pick up the iPad and use it in full touch mode.

For me I will be carrying around the Magic Trackpad 2 until the new magic keyboard is out...trackpad support is what I’ve wanted and it’s finally here

I’m using a Magic Trackpad 2 with my 12.9” right now and really loving what feels more like a more modern mini-iMac to me (as it sits next to my 2013 21” iMac).

Weak sauce.

It has nothing to do with defending Apple. It's about recognizing the vast potential of AR technology.

Apple’s interest in AR/VR is nothing new, I believe what people mean by “who cares” sentiment is that it will be 1 year or longer before anything is available from 3rd party developers. Apple is known for releasing hardware that is not taken advantage by developers 1-3 years later only a few game titles actually push the envelope. For example there are still apps that are yet to be updated for the notch, some apps not even available on iPad but scale up, CPU/GPU hardware not being used to its full potential, etc.

While it’s great that Apple is introducing forward thinking hardware to most users, it will not be utilized until 1-3 years if at all and it really depends on some killer app feature. While I understand that Apple has to introduce the hardware sometime for developers and customers to get accustom to it at the same time for most it will be unused and I look forward to being proven wrong in a year but I don’t see it.

What would be cool is XCode on iOS, but what we got was a trackpad for iPad Pro something of a confusing message on many levels.

I don't think anyone said Apple's interest in AR is new. Indeed, Apple' plunge into AR goes back a minimum of five years; with brainstorming and systems concepts going back further waiting for the camera technology to mature.

The iPhone X, a phone that at introduction 3+ years ago Cook characterized as a demonstrator of future technologies is a great example sporting a 3D depth sensing camera. With millions of people using that every day to unlock their phones, I suspect Apple has a lot of real-use insight into that small piece of their overall AR development. And of course there's ARKit which has now been out for 3 years. By now I suspect developers are far along with their app plans. Some apps will use the just-released iPad, others will be waiting for Apple's AR glasses.

Apple's AR future is bright.

Apple's AR future is bright.

I hope so, 3D also seemed to have a bright future. To me many don’t like reaching for something to wear unless it adds some substantial value, Apple Watch has proven that people are willing to take off a device every night to charge it and put it on every morning, will this habit extend to some form of eyewear only time will tell. Looking forward to some interesting tech.

I am waiting for Apple Watch to become more functional at present it still does not do enough for me to consider wearing one.

I’ll wear an Apple Watch for as long as they are made. On December 2nd, I was in a serious car accident. My Apple Watch saved my life.

So, it does more than enough already to keep me as a life long committed customer.
