Apple today announced that its new 2020 MacBook Air supports up to a 6K external display for the first time ever, including the Pro Display XDR.

Apple's Pro Display XDR is a 32-inch 6K monitor with a P3 wide color gamut and true 10-bit color support, 1,600 nits of peak brightness, a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a super-wide, off-axis viewing angle. It is also compatible with the new Mac Pro, 15-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models released in 2018 or later, and 2019 iMac models.

Apple updated its MacBook Air lineup earlier today with faster processors and graphics, a scissor switch Magic Keyboard, a lower starting price of $999, and more, with online availability beginning today. Read our announcement post for more details.

6K is not enough K! We need more K! I want at least 10K! Maybe 12! It must be better since 12 is a bigger number than 10!

And while we’re at it, we need more MP’s too! Samsung and Xiaomi are giving us 108MP’s! Apple only gives us 12MP’s, therefore their photos must be lame compared to bigger MP’s! What’s wrong with those Apple slackers?! More MP must be better than fewer MP!

And don’t even get me started on Hz!

With a few upgrades, the Air is a better buy than the current 13" Pro. $1449 for the quad core i7 (10th gen intel), 16gb RAM, 256gb SSD.

The majority of people does not recommend Apple Pro 6K display, Apple needs to revive the thunderbolt display from iMac and keep its price competitive in the market.

NICE! I don't think too many people will purchase a $1000 laptop along with a $5000 display, but sure!

More appealing than ipad pro. Price is lower than an iPad pro with the new keyboard and touchpad.

Why would you make this comparison?

It makes absolutely no sense to even bring this up.

* sorry about the second poster, I see that you meant the 13" Macbook Pro.

Call me crazy but I don’t think this feature is going be utilized very often.

Well, I assume that many people buying a MBA (as compared to a more powerful MBP) are not going to be doing the sort of work that requires a 6k display either way.

I hope they are going to release new MBP now too. Still no p3-500nits display for air? There are no such info on their website

This display is not made for the majority of people, and Apple won’t make a display that competes with price. It’s pointless for them to make a $1000 display against competitors at $200.

I tried connecting a 2018 Air to two 4K screens.

It worked, but fan noise all day.

I imagine the 6K will be a real burden on that little machine!
