What about the new mini? 😉

If they updated the TB3 controller to Titan Ridge it would, but sounds like all it received was just a base storage jump.

Intel never released a 9th generation CPU in the socket the Mini uses, but a 10th generation might happen and if it does than Apple would likely update the TB controller.

I'd be curious to see how they compare from a speed perspective. Typically, the iPad Pro has blown away MacBooks.
True but it does depend on the use case for everyone. Maybe it will be good indeed to see a benchmark with latest MBA vs iPad Pro

Fry logic board! Fry I say!

Here's actual footage of the 2020 MacBook Air after being connected to the HDR Display for 5 minutes.

Yup. I burned through five logic boards over two Macbook Pros driving a 30" ACD. Made me nervous so my next purchase for desktop work was an iMac. Not one issue in 5 years. Most reliable computer I've ever owned.

So the MacBook air is more powerful than the iMac Pro. That's really good going Apple.

When the iMac Pro is updated later this year, it will get the Titan Ridge TB controller which is necessary to drive the Pro Display XDR at the full 6K resolution.

If you measure computer power by display resolution, sure. But that makes about as much sense as measuring “powerfulness” based on the number of USB ports it has.

I imagine the 6K will be a real burden on that little machine!

I doubt it. My 2019 Air can drive a 5K display fine. 2020 Air is a lot more powerful machine, and with Titan Ridge TB3 and gen10 GPU - it shouldn't have much trouble driving a 6K screen.
