I would really like MagSafe as well as those little battery indicators on the side of the case.
Maybe they're "listening" to the customer or realised that because other companies make adapters, it's just as profitable to bump the price on each device by a couple of hundred $$ and include the ports. I'm sure they'll also be missing out on their constant revenue stream that magsafe power bricks with the frayed cables likely afforded them!😂TBH, this whole statement by Kuo just sounds like BS to me. This is a major "undo" and it's not like Apple. They did the butterfly keyboard, but that's after years of backslash.
Dongle?Never forgotten a bloody dongle?
Yes, we need a portable workstation for road warriors. Not expecting one, but will buy one immediately if they exist. My old 17 inch is getting a little old.Whatever ports the new MBP might have, I don't think they are going to make the laptops thicker again, which might limit the options.
This has been solved. Plenty of Dell and other vendors laptops now use a slim port which opens up to accept the RJ45 connector when in use.The return of Ethernet, at a faster, enterprise-happy, speed? 2.5 or 5 Gbps that is. It would be good, it would free up a TB3 port. But it is bulky, and for some reason nobody designed a slimmer standardised port for laptops...
I think ethernet is the least likely port, at least with the current form factor.Announced at WWDC and available 2 weeks later. I'd like a ethernet, personally, but I don't think that's even possible, now, without a dongle, due to the connector size. Perhaps the industry will rethink the rj-45 form factor someday? Due to security, latency, and potential rf interference, I will always prefer a wired network.
You seem out of touch with the enterprise world. Any client I go and see will have presentation capabilities using HDMI or a USB-A clickshare dongle. We share files via USB-A flash drives etc.Dongle?
USB-C's been out for nearly half a decade. Why aren't you on a 100% USB-C ecosystem already? Come to think of it, the only USB legacy device I have is a USB-A & USB-C Combo drive.
Debatable, type C has of course taken over where speed is a factor like data cables, but USB data sticks are mostly still type A unless you go out of your way to get a type C or dual one, if you buy a wired mouse it's still likely to be type A, most Windows laptops still ship with a mix of A and C ports so they're likely to still have a long tail of utility ahead. IF type A is one of the ports to make a comeback I suppose you can think of it as a single built in dongle to save you the trouble for those occasions you need it.There's now way they add Ethernet and USB-A, will add to the thickness and USB-A is on it's way out.
Been using a 2017 MBP and used to just having a variety of cables in my bag, 6 ports would be nice and a mini-phono plug is all I would require.
99% of wired keyboards, mice, monitors sold today still use USB-A and HDMI.Dongle?

Yes, this for me.They should just add MagSafe, HDMI and an USB-A port.
Definitely looks worse on the 2011 where they're all pushed to one side (the super drive slot taking up the other). The huge ethernet hole always looks odd too, though I think the retina machines look pretty balanced. Guess you needed them all back then though!Well, when fashion is prioritized over function you get a sleeker machine.
because, ****, those I/O ports are ugly as ****.
