I'm going to be so disappointed if it has only an M1 Pro/M1 Max chip. Or only comes as a 27 inch. And if they're going to use the "Pro" moniker then it better come with four Thunderbolt and four USB ports.

Edit: Forgot to add, I'd REALLY like to see it come in an all black design.
I think it's going to depend on whether the Jade 2C and 4C dies get reserved strictly for the Mac Pro or if they'll offer them as an upgrade option on iMacs too. I would assume that the iMac will start with an M1 Pro with the Max as an upgrade option, but whether the dual or quad die Max chips are offered beyond that is up to Apple.

iMac and iMac Pro will be presented at the same time, or will just be named iMac in some different variations of max, pro chips. Some with a bit more salt, some more spicy ? ? ?
Will be 27"and a bigger version too. We have all heard all speculations by now.

I'm fully of the belief now that it will basically be the 24 inch iMac, in space gray, with black bezels, in 27 inch size (No notch). Same internals as the MBPs. Don't see it going any other way and I think the hopes for chinless are relatively in vain.

Agreed about the price; I just don't see how Apple using their own parts for CPU and GPU would shave off $3,000.

If they do re-do the iMac Pro line, I would need it to retain the 128 GB RAM I have on the current iMac Pro. That means two M1 Max parts. Still, that should be less expensive than the future Mac Pro with the same chipsets.

On a different note, what I'm really liking (not sure when Apple introduced this) was that you can now pay for AppleCare+ year-by-year (maybe this is only for certain models?). Thus, if folks need such coverage over say a 5 year period, you could then spread the cost of these Macs over that longer period and be covered the entire time.

If they can sell a 27" miniLED for 2K, they can sell it without a computer inside for 1K.

The only way the big iMac starts at 2k or lower is if they make a nonPro variant which will be just the base M1(or M2 depending on timing) with basic 5k display. (and no I don't think they will do that).

If the iMac Pro is based off the design of an XDR, it wont have a chin, will be 27"/5k or 32"/6k, will be "thicc", and it will also have the ability to be swiveled vertically. This would be a much larger design divergence from the standard and Pro variants than I can ever remember. These rumors have caused me to ask more questions, and have cast more doubt on what I thought this new generation of iMac Pro would be, than before... ?

I really doubt the 2000$ starting price with all these great specs, but we can only wish it’s true
I go back and forth on a $2000 starting price. Part of me thinks it makes sense considering the currently available 27" starts at $1800, so it would be a $200 increase from that. BUT it is a whopping decrease from the previous iMac "Pro" that was available. Then of course they went from 21.5" to 24" in the smaller screen size, but won't similarly increase the 27" size?

Will they leave the more affordable market without a larger display?

The iMac Pro name will likely encompass a wider range of computers and prices than did the original iMac Pro. I would not be surprised to see an 8 core, 14 graphics core M1 Pro machine for $1999. And I would not be surprised to see a very high end M1 Max machine at $7000 or more. Both would externally look the same and feature the same miniLED display.

2022 iMac Pro Rumor List: Everything We Know Summarized

Nothing. You know absolutely nothing. There are unsubstantiated rumors and speculations but nothing is known until the machine is released. Stop claiming knowledge where there's at best tweeted conjecture.

Am I the only one annoyed by these cklick-baity "everything we know" headlines?
Completely agree, but it won’t be long until the mod staff comes along and removes your post (and mine as well, most likely) because you dare question the editorial process.

What will be, will be. Personally, I love finding out what they got wrong.

no hdmi
sd card
4 thunderbolt ports
ethernet port (either in power brick or built in to housing)
headphone jack
no notch
chin
black bezels
no face ID

plus, I expect new peripherals added. I hope they make the space grey magic mouse + keyboard + trackpad available separately again. And maybe 2022 will finally be the year they redesign the magic mouse...

Now that so many people are working from home, it would be great to see the return of "target display mode." I'd love a powerful iMac for personal use with the flexibility to plug in my work computer via USB-C when I need a second display for work.
Having just bought a new iMac 24“ in August, if they bring the target display mode back I will definitely get the iMac Pro as I do not have space for two screens on my table and I am working from quite a lot, both pre- and post pandemic.

Or, you know, just a standalone display, so you don't need two computers.

doubt it will have SD Card, at least the non-pro

they specified work computer. most companies issue portables and what would be the point of having two notebooks to share a display to plug/unplug. when an iMac with TDM would solve their use case.

IMO:

Called an iMac Pro: Yes
27" MiniLED with ProMotion: Yes
Chin: Yes
Notch: No
HDMI: No
SD Card: Maybe
Ethernet: Yes (though maybe in the power brick)
M1 PRO and M1 MAX: Yes
M1 MAX Duo (Jade2C-Die): Maybe

At least one leaker did claim Apple wanted to keep the base price close to the Intel iMac 5K at around $2000. My guess is $2299-2499 for an M1 Pro with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD with BTO options up to 64GB RAM (with M1 MAX) and 8TB SSD.
Maybe $2,499, but I have a hard time believing that Apple is going to bring out a 27" miniLED display with promotion plus the rest of the computer for $2,199 when it will be so vastly superior to many rival monitor-only products that cost considerably more. I do agree, though, that they want a low $2,000s price.

What I'm envisioning is either:
  1. The larger iMac is called iMac Pro and starts at $2,199-ish with the same 5K panel that is currently used with a higher CPU/GPU ceiling if specced up (Jade2C-Die) and the improved display will be a $999 upgrade kind of like the option to get the nano-texture display on the current iMac. That way they have a larger iMac at a "reasonable" starting price and still get their margins, or
  2. There is a larger iMac branded as "iMac" which is just the 24" iMac scaled up to 27" with an M1 Pro (maybe Max) starting at $1,999 and an "iMac Pro" with the new display, base M1 Max as starting point (maybe up to 2C-Die) and other tweaks starting at $2,999.
I'm leaning toward #1, but would be blown away if you can get a 27" iMac with miniLED and ProMotion with an M1 Pro chip starting at $2,199 - $2,499.

Hopefully they offer blinged out versions of both the iMac pro and the mini.
I would love a 32" iMac but most probably don't want that? So I'll keep my monitor
and add a mini!

This is going to be interesting. I don't need one but can't wait to see what they do with the Mac Pro!
Maybe by the time it comes out it will be 4 at the low end and 8 and 16 at the middle and top?
Heh, I know but one can dream?

So if they don't have the chin, they just make it thicker to house the components?
