Completely agree, but it won’t be long until the mod staff comes along and removes your post (and mine as well, most likely) because you dare question the editorial process.

What will be, will be. Personally, I love finding out what they got wrong.
Think Same.

Bahhh. (Lol)

If Apple makes the back bulge/about double thickness for the logic board near the bottom edge, they won't need a chin and the machine would be thick enough in this area for a HDMI port. The notch or fatter bezel at the top, that could be a conundrum. Frankly I'd rather have the fatter bezel at the top, but considering Apple already has done the work to allow for the notch, I guess we will get it.
This would be my preferred and would have wished it for the 24". Stand with built in charging for istuff including trackpad and mouse, is that doable on the trackpad etc?

2022 iMac Pro Rumor List: Everything We Know Summarized

Nothing. You know absolutely nothing. There are unsubstantiated rumors and speculations but nothing is known until the machine is released. Stop claiming knowledge where there's at best tweeted conjecture.

Am I the only one annoyed by these cklick-baity "everything we know" headlines?
lol have you seen in YouTube the clickbait thumbnails claiming to know release dates, specs and prices of these things

All I really want is a 27” version of the current iMac. No way I can go back to a 24” display. if this is priced too high, I’ll go with a Mac Mini and a lesser monitor.
Methinks, the second option is much better, not the big iMac. The All-in-one iMac line should be retired, boycotted until replaced with new Macs and new displays.

Need affordable displays that work as smart TVs and new Macs that can be used with any display. And built in batteries in them too please.

You do realize that the name of this site is “MacRumors”? So you are complaining that a site whose entire 20 plus year history is publishing rumors about upcoming Apple products is publishing rumors about Apple products? If they were sanctioned releases they would be Apple press releases, but Apple takes secrecy to the n-th degree and even when it’s not necessary they keep everyone in the dark. Every Apple product site relies on Apple’s lack of information to drive viewers. Apple doesn’t put out THAT many new and upgraded products every year so if they all only released verified information then they would all have to close for the year every February.

Allow me to echo those who say that the new 27" iMac will not cost anything close to $2000, at least not with these specs. Consider a "low-end" 27" iMac with a binned M1 Pro Processor. It will not ship with anything less than 16 GB of RAM (because it can't), and I would be stunned if it ships with anything less than a 512 GB SSD. If, however, you take the 24" iMac and configure it as 16/512, you end up paying $1899. The only way it costs $2000 is if it comes with an M1 version and the exact same screen it has now, and even that might not hit $2000.

My thinking is that the price of the 27" iMac can be determined by comparing the prices of the computers already on the market. I think it will be that the 27" iMac is to the 24" iMac as the 16" MBP is to the 13" MBA. So let's list those out, with what I think will be the base config of the 27" iMac: an M1 Pro with all its cores functional, 16 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB SSD.

The M1/16/1T MBA costs $1649.
The M1Pro/16/1T 16" MBP costs $2699. That's about 164% the price of the M1 Air.
The M1/16/1T 24" iMac costs $2099.
Thus, I think the M1Pro/16/1T 27" iMac will cost $3499, which is about 166% the price of the 24" iMac.

I hope I'm wrong on this, because I am planning to purchase this machine, but I don't see how they will release a 120 Hz mini-LED 27" iMac with an M1 Pro, even a binned one, for less than $3K.

I don't see why they can't, to be honest.

I doubt the 120Hz MiniLED 5K panel is going to be significantly different from what we have now so I am not expecting a 50-100% price increase. Swapping the direct-lit backlight for MiniLED won't be hundreds of dollars more expensive and the existing panel might already be able to handle 120Hz, it is just Apple has not (yet) made a timing controller that supports it.

Even assuming "Most Favored Customer" pricing, Apple is paying $400+ for an Intel Core-i7 and AMD 5500XT and the unit price for a binned M1 Pro is said to be closer to $100 per reports. And I expect Apple is paying less for the LPDDR the M1 uses than the DDR the Intel iMac uses.

The new chassis should not cost much more than the current chassis and the systemboard will be much smaller and simpler, reducing the production costs.

All in all, I really think Apple can hit a $2499 starting point.

It will definitely have a notch because people keep begging for tiny bezels, and the display notch is Apple's new trademark design. And it will have a chin because that is where the MacBook Pro motherboard will reside. It might even come in awful colors too. It will definitely be over $2,000 and the top upgrades will easily exceed $6,000, just like the MacBook Pro. It will basically be the 16" MacBook Pro board with a big display grafted on it, just like the 24" iMac is essentially the MacBook Air inside an enclosure. It will be thin, headphone jack sticking out on the side, and the kludgy Ethernet port mashed into the AC power brick. And like the MacBook Pro, it still won't do FaceID.

You should browse Apple's refurb page. There are 3 pages of 24" iMacs and it has only been on the market for 6 months! That is saying something because the majority of refurbs are from customer returns.

Al corrects but just one thing I think is impossible:
  • ~$2000 starting price
Starting price will be for sure at least ~$2499 if we are lucky but I really think that will be ~$2999!

Gurman's latest PowerOn newsletter states he believes we will see the Apple Silicon Mac Pro, the 27" iMac (Pro) and the "Mac mini Pro" announced by or at WWDC.

$2500 and a lot of memory, storage, processing power and graphic ability and I may scream like someone is ripping my fingernails off but if I can get 5+ years, maybe. I do photo editing but I am not a professional, so it can’t be called a business expense. Considering that it is a desktop I’m not limited by battery performance. I’d RATHER buy something efficient but price it too high and I can’t justify the cost. And buying a Mac Mini means I can’t get a large screen that is 5k at anything less than a ridiculous amount of money. What I want is something better than entry level that can run data intensive programs reasonably fast, but not trying for professional level fast, that doesn’t cost north of $3000 by the time I buy everything that I need to use it for photography.
