Me too. That's why I ordered 2. 1Tb too man!
I initially had the Silver one selected when I did the pre-order setup. This is because I always go for the darkest iPhone and wanted to switch it up this year. But after watching several videos with people showing off the Deep Purple iPhone, I decided to switch mine up when pre-orders went live. This is the first year I have loved all 4 colors. I'm hoping that someday we'll get color options that are more in line with the iPad nano 4th and 5th gen.

Customs clearance can and does happen without physical product there, and happens *all the time*.

UPS has a very, very profitable business doing exactly this! Very few shipments from large MNCs like Apple being handled by UPS actually go through physical customs inspections. Perhaps a few randomized spot checks, sure, and the regular bulk X-ray perhaps when going through ports, but there is no customs inspector looking at each of these...customs clearance in this case is largely tariff/volume related and AAPL and UPS maintain relationships with US ICE that makes nearly all of this electronic, with physical enforcement being spot checks at most.
 
Not sure if my Apple Watch, phone, or both but I am showing my tracking in the ups app. Could also be the return label for my trade in. It shows departed China 9/10 and arrived China 9/11

I got the loan approval emails from Citizens One for both phones, still don't have tracking number for one of them.

Both phones show "preparing for shipment" in Apple Store app with 9/16 delivery.
Shipping address is the same for both, also have both phone numbers in the tracking preferences of my UPS account.
Tried tracking by reference using order number and phone number, nothing found.

Seems like this happened a few years ago, no tracking for a couple of days then it showed up on an arrival scan, hoping this is the case.

For those of you who converted to eSIM, could you do it from the selection on your iPhone or did you have to call/chat with your carrier? Was getting "something went wrong, please call customer support at 611." I have ATT and I had to call.

I'm on ATT and other than it glitching the screen as it refreshed for a few minutes, it worked fine. I was on iOS 16RC though, if that made any difference.
