I’m signed up for ups my choice and it dose not mention anything about customs clearance and I know sometimes clearance can take a while.
Customs clearance can, but for bulk shipments like this where UPS is handling the clearance and has the relationship with the relevant agencies, they are almost always cleared in bulk, electronically, in advance and it is very rare for a company like Apple's bulk movement being handled by a company like UPS to experience issues. It's possible but, very, very rare. Much more likely a crew member getting sick en route and a diversion happening, weather, or a mechanical issue that can't quickly be recovered from.

Every once in a rare while some agency, government, or inspector will want to assert some kind of control and make life harder for people to make a point or play saber rattling, but large MNCs who maintain these relationships (like UPS and AAPL) *do* get treated differently than small companies and individuals.

Both the Chinese government and the US government have a vested interest in this commerce going smoothly, both directly and indirectly for the individual actors involved (no one wants to admit it, but there's a lot of quid pro quo that goes on that makes this happen very smoothly on both sides...). UPS government affairs execs play a lot of golf with a lot of US ICE officials, UPS China teams know their local CCP rep quite well, etc, etc...

"Clearing customs" for this kind of stuff is vastly different than other types of shipping and/or anyone's personal travel experience.

He can reach out to the Apple Manager's team. They specialize in sales, operations, and logistics.

1-866-254-8313 Ext: 210-2215 (Internal Manager Number at Apple Corporate).

These are internal numbers. Maybe they have the pull. But it's tough luck because these are pre-ordered iPhones. See post below.

I called (was told Senior Customer Service was the name) - they said until tracking info is generated no way of really knowing arrival date. They said it is not called the Apple Manager's Team but who knows - semantics! Didn't pull for me, lol.

Appreciate you for the suggestion.

I'm so frustrated. I called UPS. First, they tried to charge me, $7.99 instead of $5.99, to get my package held at the CC. Then, I tried to reason with them to let me do it for free (I've done it for free before, they are saving gas by not delivering it to my house), and the agent had some response that I didn't even fully understand, but it sounded something like Apple needed to give permission or be charged or something for me to get it for free. The second time I called, they said that the package is restricted by Apple, and I have to call Apple to get it held at the CC.

I did ask the second time which CC the package will be distributed from (since I have multiple in my area). I could pay to have it held at this location online, but considering the conflicting information they're giving me, I'm hesitant to pay $6 to have it held for pickup if it's not even the right location and it causes me to not even get my phone on launch day or maybe until Monday.

It's stuff like this that makes me not even want to deal with the headache of upgrading every year. First, Apple in-store pickup wouldn't work due to a buggy app. Then, I find out UPS doesn't have a simple, easy, free way to just hold at the CC like they did in the past. Now, I wasted an hour, I'm going to pay UPS $6 to hold my package for me at the place it'll already be at and so that they save gas, while having no reassurance that my package will actually be available for pickup on delivery day. 😐

Did you try the one with the extension?

i called UPS earlier for assistance with MyChoice and they provided me a delivery window already. my assumption is that will change once the package arrives in our cities but the agent told me estimated delivery between 9am and 11am… (on 9/16 of course) 🫣
My Apple Clear case is arriving via UPS between 2:45 and 6:45 PT today. I wonder if that will be the same delivery window on Friday?

I ordered two iPhone 14 Max last Friday at 5 AM PDT, and was told that my orders were received and should ship on Thursday. Today, I noticed from the carrier that two packages which are supposed to be delivered on Friday will arrive early, Wed., Sept 14, 2022. Both packages weigh in at 2 pounds. The packages are coming from:
ATC
13500 INDEPENDENCE PKWY
FT WORTH, TX US 76177

Are my iPhones arriving tomorrow?
Did you order accessories. Those are delivering separately starting tomorrow.

Damn, that sucks man. I thought about it long and hard this morning and decided to just not do it this year. I'll wait for the truck by my window.

I’m sorry for the hassle. I would suggest paying for the premium upgraded membership via for UPS MyChoice account. It is $19.99. Once it’s paid, your account will be upgraded. Using a desktop computer request a pickup. No Fee. It’s free now. Make sure you pick the right one. Pick up date shows 9/16/2022.

On Monday call UPS back and have them cancel the membership and request the money back. They will refund it to you. All of it.

This trick is not for everyone. I don’t want UPS coming after me. So, please don’t abuse it. I have good relations with Apple but not UPS.

So far trying to talk to apple on the phone to apply my apple account balance to my preorder, I’ve been hung up on, randomly transferred to someone else, and transfer again to someone who apparently didn’t have their headset on and couldn’t hear me.
Update: called again and got a good rep and they helped me. Payment taken care of. Now I hope can pick it up Friday instead of Saturday

Lol at iPhone 4. Good times.

It won’t! Hopefully, you got your passport ready. You're going to need it.

Objective: Get out of China today!
I have it. Also have done the Annual Clearing of Unused Apps on my 13 Pro, so they won't get restored to the phone. Installed the new IOS. Have a new Forest Green leather case ready for the silver. Cleared my calendar on Friday. Once my wandering 14 arrives, I can begin obsessing over the arrival of my Ultra.

It’s a simple process, just not speaking with knowledgeable or empathetic cs reps. Might even be vendor not official ups employe. Not world class service that I’m sure they claim.

Yeah, I feel that way after watching the latest Nintendo Direct that streamed this morning...the sheer amount of AAA video games coming out next year is insane!

Right?!!! I love that the Zelda sequel "Tears of the Kingdom" finally has a release date of May of next year. Coupled with the God of War Ragnorok release for this November....I'm a happy camper!
