I think the Mia-KC game will be the most interesting. Will Miami fold again in the cold, after their Buffalo collapse? Will KC's playoff experience turn it on in what has been a disappointing season so far? And how cold will it get?

I have Peacock, so I will be watching :) (by the way, lame move NFL for putting on PPV playoff games. Weak.)

Oh that freaking sucks... I had not noticed that. Yeah that is very lame.

Wow.

I can't see it because I refuse to allow ads. But player safety has to come into it at some point. How cold is too cold? They should move the game if it's "arctic."

My own Bills are facing cold and windy too, which means Josh becomes equal with Mason Rudolph and the Steelers superior running game could cause problems. The Bills refused to make the new stadium domed, so now our $250 million dollar QB will be equalized with an average one in the future, because of weather. Dumb.

If the Cowboys and Green Bay can do it... come on. I mean they called it the "Ice Bowl". These youngsters... :)

Although neither is my favorite team, that is one first round / wild card game I would have watched. But, just like the game that was on Amazon Prime, I will miss this one. Go ahead, NFL, make my day. Move all games to multiple streaming services and don't show them on cable in the home markets. I'll watch PBS instead.

Hey, that was in the Stupid Ages, where if you got injured, they just dragged you off the field and you played with 8 concussions.

"Yep, jiggle that spine as much as possible!"

I remember soon after I got married, we were finishing the basement on our new house and I stood up into a board and went right back down. My wife was all concerned I had a concussion.

My response was "I played HS football, I know what a concussion feels like and this ain't it".

The Ice Bowl was before my time.👴👨‍🦳🧓 I remember watching the Freezer Bowl (Chargers/Bengals 1982) on TV.

Miami has the better running game, right? They have two top tier RB, so they will have the advantage in the Snow/Ice/Freezer/Icy McIce Bowl II. I'd be rooting for Miami. KC needs a kick in the pants so they stop being Hollywood and focus on their game.

LOL it was before my time, but not by much. "The youngsters" comment was aimed at the NFL players. :)

LOL... You mean the real football! :);) /s When players could tackle the quarterback and not be called for a flag, or take some ones head off and not be called or ejected! The real days lol...

Heck, if we really cared, we should put them all back in leather helmet and gear. I am assuming we don't see these types of injuries in rugby do we!

I like the weather and hate domed stadiums. It's like Formula 1, anyone can drive around in circles, but it requires skill to do it on a wet track. So bring on those rain and snow games. :)

Patriots have hired Jerod Mayo to replace Belichick.

Not sure how they complied with the Rooney Rule here in less than a day.

According to reports, Mayo's contract had a clause which said he would be named head coach once Belichick left. That clause overrides the Rooney Rule.

Apparently there is a loophole. His contract extension last year included a clause that made him the HC in waiting. So that's how they got around it.

I'm not sure the Rooney Rule applies, Since Mayo is African American, that automatically satisfies the rule, yes?

The original one yes, but the updated one requires 2 minority interviews and includes execs and coordinators.

I have been following the DirecTV dispute with Tegra and NBC access. I have DirecTV, but also use Hulu Live TV as backup and also Peacock. So it doesn't affect me directly, but people in Cleveland are rightfully angry.

But I am so tired of these disputes. When you sign up for a service, its under the idea that includes all the channels you are paying for. It is criminal that the networks can pull a channel over a network dispute. Settle your network dispute, but LEAVE YOUR CUSTOMERS OUT OF IT.

They think pissing off customers will put pressure on the source companies (like Tegra). It doesn't. It just pisses off customers at YOU, DirecTV. And of course, you think DirecTV will give a refund to people for the missing channel time (often weeks)? Hardly.

Congress needs to pass a law making this illegal.

No, it pisses me off at the station. This is something that 1) they give away for free if you have an antenna and 2) used to give away for free to Cablecos and Satcos. It was when they decided they could charge something for it and get away with it is when it became an issue.

And I did get $10/mo for 6 months credit from DirecTV. Just have to call and ask. Would be nice if it were automatic, but at least you can get it.

And, yes Congress does need to do something.

So how would you handle the situation as a cable or sat provider? Your customers are paying $X based on your negotiated rates with content creators (channels) but now, lets say your ESPN contract is coming up and they want double the rate and are playing hardball because they know your customers will be mad if you drop the channel. Do you:

1) Give them whatever they want and raise prices to your customers? Mad customers.
2) Decide that double is crazy, inform your customers of what is occurring and eliminate the channel from your lineup? Mad customers.

Obviously negotiation is the key here but all too often the content creators try and cash in with ridiculous demands. ESPN has been guilty of this over the years on price as well as forcing cable/sat providers to include all their associate channels like ESPN Deportes. If you don't speak spanish why on earth should you pay for this channel?!?!

Congress needs to pass a law making this illegal.

Seriously? You want those idiots involved?

A far easier solution is NO BUNDLES, every single channel is ala carte. That way if ESPN wants to double its rate the provider can say ok, we will just double our customers price for your channel, this way the consumer sees that price increases are based on that creators cost for their content and are not forced to pay more for their access to say CBS because ESPN increased their cost. The only reason creators have the leverage they do is because of the bundling together of channels.

I would go back to cable in a hot minute if I could select each channel based on its own content/cost ratio but as things are I would never watch a full 2/3 of the channels I would pay for in a typical bundle.

I like CLE and KC ... Beat up MIA in the horrible cold... lol. It'll be a low scoring affair I'm sure.

CLE will make it look harder than it needs to be but will prevail...
