All,

I've a question that is exciting (at least to me!)

Last year the Aussies in Melbourne did the pre-race tour with the F1 drivers as passengers in their Cobra replicas. Here's the video (skip to 4:19): https://youtube.com/live/LMxv5tjcQzg?si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE

I'd dearly love to do this with the Deep South Cobra Club at the 2023 Miami F1 race in May.

Problem is, I haven't been able to find out who in the Miami or the F1 organization to ask.

Would one of you-all know who to ask? It would need to be someone who has the responsibility for the pre-race parade.

Any suggestions would be wonderful,

Tom

You'll find the schedule is likely full already for 2023, likely even 2024 ;) Local track promotors and FIA are the people. If you don't have a relationship in the right places it will be extremely hard.

I know it’s only testing but Red Bull is looking strong again 👍 And so does Aston Martin. I’m looking forward to this season

7 more sleeps until race day. :) I hope I make it back in time before they start, we are in Antwerpen, Belgium, at Reverze the night before until 7am on the day 😂 Then drive back to the UK.

We’re enjoying Drive To Survive and can’t wait for this season. It's nice to see some different angles of events that happened, and some unique camera positions not seen previously on Sky Q.

Great news as I always thought that last chicane took the momentum out of this race. I used to love the overtaking before the start/finish line.

The irony was the chicane was added in 2007 in the interests of improving overtaking by slowing the cars with the idea that it would bunch them up for the blast down the front straight (as well as in the interests of safety as the cars were entering and exiting at such high speeds thanks to the immense downforce they were generating at the time).

I remember feeling at the time it was a huge mistake as the previous seasons it had created some good battles along the main straight. Slowing the cars down before the last corner failed on the better racing theory and took out the slipstream battles we’d seen previously. Shocked the last time that configuration was used was 2006 too, times flies.

Looks like the AlphaTauri team might not be long for this world, with new Red Bull Sports executive Oliver Mintzlaff feeling the team is not worth keeping in the family. Potential suitors include Andretti-Cadillac and Hitech Grand Prix (which has an existing relationship with AlphaTauri).

It’s been nearly 12 months since Lewis, Verstappen, LeClerc etc all had equal points 😇😂

Three more sleeps and it’s game on 😎🤩

Toto stated that the RB19 is able to run 10mm lower than everyone else. If true it’s going to be a repeat of 2022. Adrian is on another level to design that chassis and not have it break apart at that height, and have 0 porpoising.

Love or hate RBR to not grasp the genius of Adrian would be misplaced.

Hopefully other teams can make enough adjustments as the season progresses. Ferrari has the best chance. The W14 lacks straight line speed at this point and Lewis stated it still bounces a bit, but much better than last year. Definitely didn’t sound optimistic in the interview. 🧐

Oh, definitely. Toto deployed his special measuring person with Lewis's feet underneath the car whilst looking at it! :)

Also Mercedes are a victim of their own reliability from last season as both Ferrari and Red Bull/Honda were allowed additional development upgrades to their engines to improve ‘reliability’ after both teams suffered failures. Mercedes have the same engine package and what seems to be a minor aero improvement, but at this point I think there’s 3 teams that may be in front of them and they are Red Bull, Ferrari and Aston Martin. I just would like to see a better season this year with more drivers in the mix.

Newey is one of the greatest F1 designers that’s for sure. He doesn’t always get it right but when he does it’s often a different and more effective approach to his peers. Paddy Lowe has always impressed me too in this regard.

I do see Red Bull as having the strongest overall package (car, PSU, paddock) so I believe that tends to favor them for the WDC and WCC at year's end.

Ferrari looks good, but the paddock cost them dearly last year and I don't believe all that can be placed on Binotto so, IMO, it remains to be seen how they look mid-season.

Fred looked good in the Aston Martin, but once Lance is back in his seat, one wonders how well the team will really do in the WCC. As such, I think AMG will still comfortably be in the Top Three by season's end.

Really hoping its not another RBR whitewash. As they won't allow both drivers to race, it will just be the Max show every week. Doesn't sound too entertaining.
Hopefully it's not that one sided once the lights go out.

Alpine were average during Winter Testing, but the belief is they were seriously sand-bagging to focus on race distance simulations and most pundits have them solidly in the mid-field for 2023. So hopefully Alonso can pull off a race win or two over the season.

I know you mean Aston Martin but indeed. They are tipped to be podium contenders in the early part of this season. Be cool to see Alonso back and interesting if he’s regularly thrashing Stroll. Fireworks inbound

Yeah, sorry. Forgot Fred moved teams this year. 😅

And yes, Aston looked good in Winter Testing, but I expect part of that is Lance was not behind the wheel. ;)

I do believe Alonso has a legitimate shot to score wins and should definitely score plenty of points if the car stays reliable.
