Are you dropping mortgage payments on an AVP?

Those of you getting Vision Pro now that it's launching in Canada, will this be your first time having a chance to use it? Or you have had some hands on with it in the US / demo / friends / etc?
I did the demo in the U.S. in March. Before that I had made my mind up I would not buy it. The Demo really did convince me. It is the old cliche, but you really have to see it for yourself . It just can’t be described properly. The environments are actually what sold me. I kept thinking about the amount Hood one and couldn’t get it out of my mind for quite awhile after! Today is finally the day I get one!

My headset and case arrived, lenses still coming Monday sadly.
Tried it out with contacts and it's pretty awesome, even if contacts bug my eyes.

Happy to report that I finally got around to updating my eyeglass prescription and ordering the optical inserts. I'm not heavily dependent on glasses but do use them for distance, especially for watching TV, driving, etc. I've noticed at times with the Vision Pro that I can't perfectly focus on text, so curious if this will help.

Ahh nice. I guess it’s totally random which orders got impacted then.

In other news, UPS lady just hammered on my door and left the $6k AVP sitting there no signature needed. Friday afternoon so she’s not giving one single f lol
Holy smokes! I ordered a charging cable last week and UPS needed a signature 🙄

I could see fine without the lenses but I got dizzy with headaches. Once I got the lenses it was fine.

Looks like UPS is trying to partially redeem themselves and has fast tracked my lenses for Saturday delivery. Hopefully everyone else gets their lenses today as well.

Um, clearly this was entirely due to my Yoda gif on the previous page 🤭

Glad to hear it!

My experience so far:
Ordered Jun 28th.
AVP delivery promised Jul 16; status “preparing to ship”
Ziess inserts promised Jul 19; in Louisville KY as of Jul 13
I’m surprised you didn’t have a July 12th delivery date if you preordered on June 28th.

Great , now it’s Wednesday!!!
If it were me I’d be trying to get maybe a discount code or something out of Apple. What’s the point in preordering when you have an AVP you can’t use for days due to shipping delays on the lenses.

Don’t think apple does discount codes…

Quick update - my optical inserts arrived yesterday (was expecting them on the 24th so that was a nice surprise for a friday).

Tried them out last night, what a difference. I could read all text quite legibly before, but now it feels 100% crisp. Mac Virtual Display is so much more useful now too. Happy that worked out. My only trouble now is that I think I need to try a different light seal as my eyes are a bit too close to the lenses, and I've already swapped to the W+ light seal cushion. Crikey though another $280...

Is it too late to send the original back? I opted for a new light seal when I got my lenses as the app recommended but found the original light seal I got when I was using contacts worked the best for both when I have contacts in and when I use the lenses so I was able to send that new light seal back for a full refund after 4 - 5 days of use and making up my mind for sure which was better (being fully prepared to need one light seal with the lenses and one without if necessary).

Yeah that additional nearly $300 on a new light seal sucked when I thought I’d need it but I bought the device without intending on keeping it and truly to try it and didn’t want the hassle if I returned it of also returning lenses so I chalked it up as the price of doing business. If you haven’t gotten to the end of the 14 day return window yet you can return just the original light seal that came with it and not the whole device itself.

Yeah, about 5 months too late for me lol. I picked up my Vision Pro near launch across the border. I knew there was some risk jumping in so early and it not being officially supported in Canada, but decided to jump in and figured I might encounter something like this with time.

Yeah 5 months will do it. LOL. I use my optical inserts all the time so the extra $280 sucks but it sounds like based on what you said above that they’ll make enough of a difference that it’ll be worth it.

What happens if you go into the Apple Store and say that the fit isn't working? It is still under warranty and Apple really wants to make this a successful product. Worth a try.

Thats a good thought.

I got the 21W at launch. It fits well enough though does feel slightly wide. The site / app suggests 25W now with the inserts. But I’m curious to go in and test it out a bit, see if I can find something with a better fit.

Overall though while another 280 hurts, it’s not the end of the world and I went in expecting some expensive aspects to this product.

I agree with @HDFan that a visit to an Apple Store might be worth a shot. Apple has given me great tech support for products long out of warranty. I realize this is different because you’d likely need a swap.

I worked in retail during college. Anyone who was nice got the best I could give them and any discount I could manage. The people who treated me like I was beneath them, not so much. It‘s been something I keep in mind whenever I need help from someone in a store. Nice goes along way.

Hope you get it all sorted!

oh i have exact same issue. 21W and app now suggests 25W with lens. I also picked up in states on launch day haha.

I've been using the W+ and every so often the eyes too close msg pops up, i just ignore it and keep using it. So far so good

I wear contacts and +1 to having lenses making it more clear, but it could also just be my contact prescription is quite old whereas my glasses one is brand new :)

Lol what are the odds, good to hear someone in a similar situation though!

I do get that popup, and I can ignore and keep using.. but I do notice my eye lashes tend to make contact with the inserts unless I keep the headset just loose fitting enough.

My other worry with possibly moving to 25W is further narrowing the FOV. I think that would be the case anyway (if I'm understanding correctly that I'd essentially be moving the displays even farther from my eyes).

Not sure why my deliveries were delayed from the 12th; might have to do with being in a rural area, not in a large city. Anyways, the AVP and Zeiss inserts were delivered as promised on July 16 and 19, respectively. Happy exploring so far!
