I can see why Evans Hankey (VP of Industrial Design) and others on the industrial design team are jumping ship. Not being able to work on new designs must be frustrating because Tim Cook wants to save costs by re-using the same design.

I'm surprised we're talking about a 2024 Mac mini?

The Mac mini has always been on a slightly longer release cycle since 2012. There's been over 2-years since the M1 Mac mini that was just replaced today.

I reckon earliest Mac mini will be about 2025.
That was because they used to be reliant on Intel's chip schedule. With Apple Silicon, they can refresh as often as they want.

At least add more TB ports. That the biggest headache with my M1. I have to spend $'s for a hub (and have added clutter) for just that oooone more connection. :(
The M2pro Mini has two additional thunderbolt ports, and the Mac Studio has two more on top of that.
So basically, you have the option for two thunderbolt ports, four thunderbolt ports, or six thunderbolt ports.

I wonder if they'll change the iMac design? I'd like to see it lose the chin. If I remember correctly, the current model's so thin, they had to move the ethernet to the power cord. If that's correct, I'd like to see it a bit thicker so the ethernet port can go back on the back of the computer. Add a FaceID & 4K webcam, while keeping TouchID on the keyboard. Add some touchscreen capability (at least on the top end) for graphic designers. Maybe a G4 iMac style so you can tilt the screen.

I was going to say the same thing but turns out the M2 Pro doubles the TB ports.

For a computer this small, I think this is the best they can do, short of eliminating the USB-A ports.

That said, can't Thunderbolt 4 ports be daisy chained? If so, then that solves most issues people would come across since you can hook up one hard drive and then have others hooked up in the chain from that point. One display hooks u to the Mac mini and others to the display. 2 ports is cutting is close but 4 should be more than enough.

I seriously doubt we'll see a new Mini in 2024 when they were just updated today and are on a 2 year update cycle. Maybe in 2025.
exactly, this is fake, bs as usual KUO will come out later on, in 2023 or early 2024 to tell us "its been delayed" yea sure KUO, people smarter than you, knows the mac mini will come in 2025 or at earliest in the best scenario late 2024 for holidays

That might make sense, if not for the fact that they're also turning out designs for so many other products besides Macs.

Sheeeesh! Not much of a change. Wow! 13 years.

When will it get re-designed? Will it ever?

The only problem with the current design is the known BT issues. I have two Mini's and they both suffer from weird BT disconnects at times. What is really funny is that they seem to affect my Magic Kybd and Magic TrackPad.

Just curious, what would you like it to look like?
Well, they could add a slot to add Apple Mac Pro Wheels. There's that!

All jokes aside, I'm not against the design. Perhaps they could make it slimmer. Overall, It looks great but It's just crazy to me how it hasn't had any update in the hardware section for over 13 years. Imagine if iPhone was treated the same.
