Just curious, what would you like it to look like?
I want a domed cylinder. Slap a dome on top of the trash can MP.

I'll add some legs, paint and decals.

I actually liked the Space Gray enclosure. Does anyone know if it's possible to retrofit an old Space Gray mac mini with the new M2 internals? Would definitely be interested in any guides/tutorials!

Wonder if they could fill the empty space inside the mini with more heat sink and eventually have it become fanless. There are Manhattan studio apartments smaller than the space inside the M1 Mini.

The problem with the price decrease is that it's for the most basic of systems, - 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD. You add an extra 8GB and an extra 256GB and all of a sudden your entry-level system is $1000, which is insanity.
And if you make the "Pro" version of the mini useable, the price jumps to $2600. So the system might be small but it's certainly not cheap. (Then again, my 2013 Mac Pro cost $3200 for half the computing power.)

how many different ways can someone make a small square or rectangle? i just see this design downsizing in footprint, not so much going in a radical direction of something visually different. it's already quite small and very functional. maybe they just give more dark color options, like a matte black instead of just space grey.

That would be really interesting! I could also imagine it being fit into an Apple SuperDrive sized device, aka the MacMini Air

they'd then have to offer an external power brick. they can fit powerful M2 Pro/Max CPUs in a thin form factor like the 14-inch pros and that would be a nice design style, but the compromise like the 24-inch iMac would be an external PSU.

I was going to say the same thing but turns out the M2 Pro doubles the TB ports.

For a computer this small, I think this is the best they can do, short of eliminating the USB-A ports.

That said, can't Thunderbolt 4 ports be daisy chained? If so, then that solves most issues people would come across since you can hook up one hard drive and then have others hooked up in the chain from that point. One display hooks u to the Mac mini and others to the display. 2 ports is cutting is close but 4 should be more than enough.
My current display doesn't have a TB output, just in. Then I have a couple older drive enclosures that don't have the daisy chain, so for now, each has to be uses separately unless I buy a TB hub. Resisting extra crap on my desk … so this M2 setup looks enticing.

My 2018 seems to freeze when it gets too hot. Putting it on its side seems to fix it. So I would prefer them to fix the thermal problems. That, or I’ll just look at the Studio that seems to have more thought put into keeping it thermally cool.
