I would like them to invest a little bit more into first party softwares. Cannot just rely on third party if they are not going to do it themselves first. I invest in their products because some of their first party softwares are so nice to use. It would be interest what they could come up with rather then a meditation app.
Not the first time for Apple. They have been notorious bad at rewrite their software to take full advantage of new technologies they present. Of course there are exceptions, like Apple Silicon.

It does not invoke trust in a new platform if Apple hold back their own development for the platform.

I don’t know why people keep talking like Apple Vision Pro is intended to isolate you from the world. One of the fundamental design principles, as emphasized in the keynote, is that you can see others and they can see you. Yes, it’s still early days and implementation is crude - it’s a bulky device and the EyeSight feature is a bit low res - but the core idea of the AVP is to NOT to isolate, unlike the headsets that came before it. AVP killed the metaverse idea. Yet people continue to mislabel it a VR device because it has an environments feature where you can go into immersion when needed. But the default is that you can see your environment and people can see you eyes - that’s the whole point. The size and weight and realism of seeing your face will increase over time
Yes, but it’s main and best function is for watching movies which you can only do alone in it, unless your family each has one

There are also lots of people who think the iPad is only good for watching Netflix. That may be true for them, but it's not true for everyone and doesn't define the purpose and nature of the device.

I guess so because I think the iPad is horrible for watching the movies and Netflix. I use mine mostly to share work with other people.

They should have included the developer strap in the box this time. It's essentially a dev kit and considering they're struggling to get content...

I think it's primarily because at the end of the day you're still seeing the world through a screen with dimmer, slightly washed out colours. When I compare it to the Meta Quest I have, the quality is much better but it's still essentially the same kind of technology - MR/VR etc.

And then use case wise, I don't see much of a focus on avoiding isolation. At launch if two of us had the headset we literally could not see the same objects in the room. I think they've now fixed that (I returned mine) but to me that doesn't suggest a focus on bringing people together.

Correct that is no longer the case. And with shareplay you can also watch movies/shows/interact with apps with other people

It isn't solely designed to isolate you, but you can use it that way. I use it almost exclusively for a display on my Mac Studio and MacBook Pro. When I'm working on the computer, I do like to isolate myself.

Isolation for work is key, also I do feel (and maybe its entirely phycological) but removing the lightseal makes me feel a lot more in tune with my environment and less isolated.

While it is the best entertainment device on the market, people sleep on the productivity aspect, the mac virtual displays, and running your apps floating around you while in a virtual environment is game changing. Ask the demo person if you can try those features
They were unable to demonstrate the Mac virtual display due to there not being a connected Mac computer nearby, but I did get to see the virtual environment, which was very cool.

The hardware impressed me very much. I can’t really criticize it.

The weight distribution with this new dual headband was perfection IMO.

The display quality was also excellent. Sure, a little more field of view will be welcome someday, but it didn’t really feel significantly lacking.

The passthrough was solid. Not perfect, but it was the night and day difference I expected compared to the super grainy black & white PSVR2 passthrough. I’m sure improvements in that department will also be welcome, but I wasn’t disappointed in its current quality.

The audio was impressive and I love that you don’t have to have earbuds in your ears.

The pinch and eye tracking controls were intuitive. No problems there. The icons felt stable and easy to differentiate from the outside environment.

I think the only thing it needs now is more content.

I don’t know if I didn’t enable it fully or what, but the immersive experience for F1 that Joseph Kosinski introduced was lackluster IMO. I was hoping for an experience like when I play Gran Turismo 7 on my PS5 with the PSVR2, but it was just a little more image and perhaps more dimensionality than just watching it on a virtual TV. Definitely not immersive IMO. Almost boring.

The Dinosaur Experience (or whatever its name is) was cool. The butterfly landing on your finger was neat and the dinosaur entering your environment was a nice effect. I wanted to be able to interact with the dinosaur, like pet it, but no such luck. Still, the visuals there were impressive. Very good dimensionality.

The panoramic photos were captivating for a few moments, and the spatial photos and videos were magical. Those will really shine when they’re photos or videos from your own life.

I was sold on the hardware, but the lack of wow moments in terms of content is what held it back for me. I actually watched a clip of the Super Mario Brothers Movie and maybe the screen needed to be enlarged, but I didn’t notice impressive dimensionality there. I would primarily use this to watch movies (since Apple isn’t big on gaming), so I was disappointed there. Possibly a user error or a not-so-impressive clip.

I see a ton of potential here. Hopefully it evolves now that there’s an M5 version and that new developer strap? I actually would enjoy watching Disney+ content where it puts you in an iconic environment. But that’s something that’s been there since the beginning. We need more content. The sports applications make sense. Hopefully more interesting ideas come along too.
