And the FIA has also been very clear that they have no interest in implementing a "Balance of Performance" mechanism like the one used in the FIA World Endurance Championship to create general performance parity within the HyperCar and LMGT3 categories.

Oh boy. The notion of adopting BoP in F1, and what would result from the fandom…how hot does the sun burn again?

Fundamentally, one should also not conflate BoP with being analogous to a spec series.

The opposite is true -- BoP is necessarily to compensate for the differences in running a large NA V8 hybrid (Caddy) versus a large V12 non-hybrid (A-M) versus turbo V8s (BMW/Porsche) versus turbo V6s (Toyota, Ferrari, Alpine, Peugeot), amongst other significant differences. Applicable to GT3 as well. The antithesis of a spec series.

The ADUO system is a more tightly-controlled version of jokers. Which themselves are proving to be the loopholes that are driving up the costs of the competition, despite the best laid plans of mice and men.

Ultimately, it all rests upon the competency of the sanctioning body in setting the parameters, in both cases the FIA, and all that implies.

Can someone please explain how on God's green earth, with 64bit calendars, we ended up with F1 and Le Man's on the same weekend??? That says plenty about the competence of the FIA.. It is their event x2, and what do I watch? F1 or the 24 hour??? I am just a little bit miffed, sat through an awful Moanaco, a couple of good laps, and now.. What moron thought Spain and Le Mans at the same time..

what?

Okay, here is the source:

Does he get the magnum of champagne as well?
Tbh they should have fixed the issue when it came up in practice. Pretty obvious all those cars weren’t speeding.

Muppets!

Le Mans and F1 have often shared the same weekend, though historically it has been the Canadian Grand Prix so qualifying did not interfere with the start and early laps at Le Mans as will happen with Barcelona. The Azerbaijan Grand Prix has also been scheduled the same weekend as Le Mans.

For a time, I believe the FIA did forbid F1 from scheduling an event opposite Le Mans (probably during the early years of the WEC), but with F1's schedule now at a nominal 24 events, they need every weekend they can.

Have this gp next weekend, 2 weeks till the next race...

I can't this schedule they've put together and the loss* of the two other races... good god it's all breaks this season.

We have too many races anyway IMHO but not having one is worse. meh!

*yes yes circumstances beyond their control...

Ferrari calls on the strategy magic of the 2004 French Grand Prix with a three-stop strategy to bring Lewis Hamilton home first at the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix.

Yes, he benefitted from his third pit stop being under a VSC while in a strong leading position, but he was so much faster on fresh Mediums he would have made it back to the front, regardless.

Kimi rubbing even more salt into the wound by passing George with five laps to go, but "God is an Englishman" and killed Kimi's PU and Leclerc's hydraulics on the next lap, so George comes home second with Norris third.

I’ll be honest I haven’t been watching the last few races but chuffed to see Lewis back on the top step. The first all British podium since 1968 too, great to see. Nice to see George get some luck for once too, he’s had it tough so far this year 👍🏻

Enjoyable race. Lewis just had more pace at every stage today. Yes the VSC helped, but ultimately I don’t think it changed his result.
Kimi handed his dose of bad luck today. But I think Mercedes are not as far ahead as they were.
Lando in P3 was a bit odd. Hardly saw him all race.

All British drivers on the podium is nice. The boys done well!
Now if only the football team can do so well this week…..

He was very reflective and clearly very happy with his progress with the team. This is the Lewis they wanted and it is clear they are finally listening to his advice on brake preferences etc. It is also nice to see that most of the reactions to his win and comments have been positive too. I'd love to see him find his old form again with consistency and a lot of that depends on whether Ferrari can maintain the development, I really hope they can and we can see a title race with Lewis in the mix.

You could definitely tell that he was a little bit emotional, and very open. At the very end, he talked about how he is very 'vocal', but also how supportive and thankful he is. One of the most important things he's done over his career, has been to separate 'work' from life.
I don't think Ferrari are there yet, the difference in power is still immense, but it's clear that Hamilton isn't washed up, and has heaps of love from those he races against.

Traveling so I didn't see all of the race. When I stopped watching George was leading and seemed to be pulling away... Very happy and surprised by the result! CONGRATS TO LEWIE!! He was nevr too far behind while I was wathing.

Worth watching the highlights. Lewis had a lot more pace at times than those around him. Even without the VSC I think he’d have got it done. In someways that might have been even better to watch.
