So looks like the "Safety Car in This Lap" message was erroneously sent by the race control software. Could have been an error in the system or an operator error, but due to when the "LAPPED CARS MAY NOW OVERTAKE" message was sent, it was not possible to re-start the race before Lap 53 under the current regulations. And since the race ended on Lap 52...

The regs are clear, as soon as the lapped cars may overtake, the safety car must return to the pit at the end of the following lap...

The accident happened on lap 47
lap 50 lapped cars may overtake...

Safety car in at the end of the following lap.. so this means at the end of lap 51... of a 52 lap race, so there was a 1 lap race available under the regs...
 
I will add I was SERIOUSLY impressed with Hadjar! Finally a team mate Max can kinda rely on for being somewhat near him and to challenge him.

Indeed. Great drive from Issac. We might be seeing some changes in the RB22. It seems the car is moving towards Issac’s liking lately. With all the internal combustion at Red Bull they may have moved past Max already. I thought it was interesting in the post race how Max emphasized that “The speed was on the other side of the garage.” There’s a lot in that sentence to unpack, IMO.

Anyway, just throwing stuff against the wall. My gut is telling me things may happen before the summer break now. Hopefully he is still driving in F1. The sport needs antagonists like Max.

It was confusing, did someone have a bad reaction to a breakfast pawpaw? They are just that shade of green when a day early for consumption.. They are the pawpaws and not some off color sick green... Maybe that is why they did so badly?? Like the time in the German GP one year, the Mercs pranced around in old school uniforms and it was a farce, some poor bastard went out with all the wrong tyres, and panic mechanics.. Meme central... Dress up is for the 25/12 office party, not at a F1 race..

Charles had already crossed the line at a certain point which meant they couldn't actually restart the race, yes it was a software glitch, or someone's finger slipped.

Oh yes, it needs people like Max to call out the BS the FIA comes out with sometimes. I think RB will be working pretty hard over the break. Really don't want to be going off at Silverstone at those speeds.

I read the stewards document and he was tagged for "exceeding track limits" four times. You are allowed to do so twice with just a notice to the team and for the third infraction of said rule, the offending driver is shown the Black and White flag as a formal warning to stop doing it. Then from the fourth infraction onward, you are assessed a five second time penalty.

So he was not specifically tagged for "going off-track and gaining an advantage", even though most media are reporting it as such. Also, the penalty for doing that is 10 seconds for each infringement (starting with the first).

Maybe but the stewards should make exceptions if it is due to a technical fault. Although Kimi should have retired the car really.

No, the teams should be run by competent adults, not folks desperate to please a child, that is dangerous... Toto and Pete B should be suspended for 1 race, banned from attending the Spa circuit. They showed weak leadership, created an unsafe driving condition.

With Antonelli continuing to show that he is the Second Coming, Toto no longer has FOMO over Max and refused to meet his demands for a three-year contract, even after Max offered to take a substantial salary cut for it, per Franco Nugnes at Motorsport Italia.

Hamilton is definitely going to exercise his contract extension with Ferrari for 2027 (and apparently also has one in hand for 2028) and Zack Brown has shot down all rumors of swapping Oscar for Max for 2027, so that rights off McLaren.

Indeed. PlanetF1 is reporting Max refused an attempt by Red Bull corporate to buy out his escape clause to lock him in until the end of 2028. This has evidently rankled minority owner Mark Mateschitz (Dietrich's son) to the point he is willing to cut Max loose, though CEO Oliver Mintzlaff wants to extend him to 2030.

My guess is, as some have suggested up-thread, that Max knows he is effectively "stuck" with Red Bull through at least 2028 if he wants to remain active in F1 and so should he end up finishing his F1 career at Red Bull, it is done in a way that is fully on his terms.

What is F1? It should be a race what you have built formula... Not a damn F2.5..

This idea of a independent V8 supplier is exactly what you get in F2 to F99 and karting for 5 yr olds...

Might as well race a standard kart a child age 6 is competent to handle.. Really F1 should be the whole deal, brakes/tyres the exception.. Engines/Chassis/aero/electronics and fuel, no hybrid, it is ICE running on fermented potato..

Or we have a split formula, in-house gets triple points, and 45 days of in season testing, customers get the standard points and 5 days of testing, at 10 hours per day.. Build your own car.. stop spending cash buying, any fool can do that...

It is like going to Tesco, buying a boatload of frozen pies, and pizzas, opening a restaurant, all you do is stick a pie/pizza in the air fryer for 30 min, and serve, charging double what the pie/pizza costs at Tesco.. Sure you are in the restaurant biz, but really are you???

Build your own crappy car/engine, or buy someone else's IP, and you expect to be treated the same??? Really customer engine buyers should get no points... Race in a sub category, start from 11th on the grid..
