Apple's upcoming 2026 iMac will be available in a refreshed selection of colors, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports.

In today's "Power On" newsletter, Gurman said that the next iMac will feature a new selection of colors. This could be the first true refresh of the device's color options in five years.

The iMac redesign introduced in 2021 uses a distinctive two-tone color design, where the color appears differently on the front and back of the machine. The rear aluminum enclosure and stand use a bold, saturated version of the chosen color, making the machine visually striking when seen from behind. By contrast, the front chin below the display features a much lighter, pastel version of the same color, intended to reduce distraction while using the screen. The display bezel itself remains white on all models.

The M1 iMac was available in seven colors: Blue, Green, Pink, Yellow, Orange, Purple, and Silver. These were unchanged with the M3 version of the device in 2023.

In 2024, Apple refreshed the look of the colors slightly. While the same overall selection of colors remained the same, the tones shifted slightly, with a more saturated blue, a brighter green, a more vivid pink, a warmer yellow, a richer orange, and a darker purple.

Gurman believes that the new iMac will arrive after refreshed Mac Studio models, which are expected around the middle of 2026.

Middle of 2026… *le sigh* well, better late than never? I’ll keep holding on to the thought that the delay in releasing the M5 generation of chips is due not to production issues with TSMC and chiplets but rather that Apple is planning on shaking up their desktop lineup and wants all the ducks in a row to release a 32” 6K Pro XDR (although why would they have cancelled the old one and then wait months to release a new one?) and a new M5 Ultra Mac Pro that can handle discrete GPUs again, among other tricks. Then a new iMac Pro with that 32” integrated and Pro/Max chips available. The rest get the usual chip bumps…

I imagine the present RAM/SSD pricing insanity is also playing into things. Regardless I’m in the market for a pretty massive revamp of my Mac hardware and all it requires is for Apple to deliver… 😉

Unless they bring back black screen bezels, I’m not interested.

The current lineup looks like fisher-price playboard for toddlers.

Wrong. It fits many interiors very well. I love the white bezel and wish iPhones still had the option.

I bought an ultimate M4 iMac with a “super computer” build. 10-core CPU. 10-core GPU. 32 GBs of super fast RAM. And a 512 GB blazing fast SSD. Yellow.

I couldn’t be happier. My wife loves it.

iMac army. The M5 is coming soon; hold the line until then.

Can they switch to 21-inch please? It's way too big.

Also, please don't tease us with images of colorful designs like you did for months with the Neo. Apple will release "blush" and other nonsense anyway.

we have 3 types of laptops, 3 types of desktops but only 1 all in one option.
Well, if Apple could add more all-in-one options without reducing the headless desktop options then nobody would begrudge more iMac options for those who didn't mind a display with a useful life of 10+ years that only worked with a computer that would be outclassed in 3 years and start losing support after 5-6.

Unfortunately, past experience has been that one comes at the expense of the other. For too long the only desktop choice was a grossly underpowered (esp. in the GPU dept) Intel Mini or the Trashcan (zero updates 2013-2018 followed by the $6k+ Mac Pro). The introduction of the Apple Silicon Mini and Studio was a massive step forward.
