You don't spend $100 for an extra 180GB of HD space.

I think it makes some sense to upgrade the HDD at order time seeing as how it's not accessible. You can always use external drives of course.

I'd be interested in what you guys think of these benchmarks:

The new iMac's seem to hold their own very well against the Mac Pro's, not counting tasks that rely on multiple cores of course.

No everything is just insanely overpriced in Europe.

Perhaps but then again I get 30 days vacation a year compared to two weeks that I hear they poor buggers have over the pond.

Plus we have proper cheese, bread and beer etc. ;)

But you can't really compare prices based on exchange rates, rather you need to see the real cost of those good in the county based against some standard indicators like a loaf of bread or a pint of milk etc. Many people in UK would think my salary is average if they convert it to sterling but in fact each one of my euros buys about the same in Belgium as a pound would buy in England so actually we can have a very high standard of living...

Sorry, that was all a bit off-topic...

But indeed I bought my RAM from the US and with the wacko dollar/euro exchange rate I ended up paying half the price. Be aware though that you'll get stung by customs most of the time unless you can have it shipped via a friend who can package it as a gift.
