Its a fact that ccfl backlighting dims every year, I have no doubt that it took much longer to warmup to the full brightness as to the first year of using the 23" ACD.

oh I wasn't doubting your claim, which is in fact the case, that ccfl backlighting dims as time goes by. But, LEDs dim as well as all light sources, they just don't age as fast.

For now, because there's no way to connect it to anything else that new MB and MBP.

I'd say yes and no.

Yes for new MB (which I am) and new MBP owner that are looking to switch from a 2 computers setup (desktop + laptop) and don't want to buy extra charger, extra speakers, webcam and don't wanna mess with freaking cables all over. I can definitely imagine people cashing in with iMac sale and cash out for this new ACD.

No for all the others as long new adapters comes out.

Personally I'll go for this screen and I think it will perfectly complement my new MacBook.

Kind of feel the same way as the last post. I'll take one for the new MBP because with all the new display's shortcomings, its still a very elegant solution if you only have one computer and its a new MB or MBP.

YMMV of course.

led backlighting hardly dims enough for the human eye to see any difference but ccfl dims 50% of its original lumens every year. The only reason that some people don't notice the dimming on the ccfl backlighting is due to the human eyes that adjust to it and don't notice it until a couple years has passed.

As for led backlighting, it hardly dims enough and maybe after 8-10 years you might notice a slight dim.

Any word on a DVI-to-MiniDplsayPort Connector which lets me connect any PC/Mac with DVI-Output?
Or a DisplayPort-to-MiniDisplayport Adapter at least?

Yes and NO

Consumers who own a brand new Macbook/MBP and you plan on keeping it for 3-5 years = YES

Everyone Else = NO

I can be flexible.

dont get it dude. there is a gateway 24'' with like 2000:1 contrast ratio for like $450 bucks.

dont waste your money on this monitor

You can get fantastic 24" monitors for $350 to $450.

I bought a Westinghouse 24" HDMI monitor for $350 at Sam's club while back and it is a non-TN panel

I don't think the Apple is a TN panel either and the top of the line non-TN panels from any company are going to be costly.

note: The Westinghouse was way into close-out, and the stand is very, very cheap.

I'll probably get the Apple monitor as I love the stuff.

You pay a hefty premium for everything really nice in this life.

does this mean you like to @#$% as supposed to make love~ :D
I'd just get a Dell display. They're great displays, cheaper, and got more ports than you can shake a stick at.

I agree (only if) there wasn't :apple: / wasn't in love with :apple: so much  it's a curse of the rotten :apple:, but GW 24" is a good monitor for the $.
