Where is this feature located at?[/QUOTE]

From the News story...

The Unicode Consortium today announced version 7.0 of the Unicode Standard, which will see the introduction of approximately 250 new emoji that could be included in future versions of the Android and iOS operating systems.

No, that is not what I asked. Please see my orginal post. I quoted cariacou and his comment of "in the new beta there's a feature "translate to emoticon". So, I asked where is this feature at. I have the iOS8 Beta and this feature isn't anywhere to be found.

How about a friggin hockey puck? Or a hockey stick? There's a bowling ball and darts, but not hockey?!

In case you didn't notice, this has nothing at all to do with Apple (other than that Apple supports Unicode emoji characters in their devices).
Gee, you're only 8 hours late pointing that out.

I'm rewriting it as "It's Amateur Hour at the Unicode Consortium", does that make you happy?

Since the article implied Apple might adopt these, I don't think it was that much of a stretch.

At least I can tell Austria from Australia.

Yeah I hope the whole Austr(al)ia thing was a joke, if not then you 'muricans seriously need to grab some school books and leave them Apple toys aside ;) (that was the clever comment emoticon right?)

Adopting a standard (and it's called a standard for a reason) is anything but amateurish. Now, if there are some sort of issues with the standard, that's fine, but that's unrelated to companies supporting the standard that has been standardized.

As for emoji and all that, what do people expect and what would be non-"amateurish"? Now, if the whole concept of emoji is that to someone, well, that's fine, but that's completely irrelevant to anything, simply that that someone doesn't care about it and that's really all.

The art is amatuerish, call it what you like.
