Haha absolutely outrageous UK pricing. I picked up a brand new sealed iPhone 7 plus 256GB for £615 last Friday and moved on my iPhone 6 - cost of upgrade £400, I expected this silly pricing and took a punt. Every product Cook has announced goes up in price the next generation (the latest normal iPad dropped in price but regressed back to the original air design - case size).

For those who pay monthly they'll be in £50-75 a month territory, so maybe they won't mind RRP price as it's only a monthly cost anyway. Personally I buy devices outright as prefer it that way, so to me it really would be £1k+ in one go. People will say "don't play if you can't afford", my response would be if someone who earns 35-40% higher than the national average UK Wage has to think twice, then your products are very very expensive!!

Great devices though, all solid and exceptional products but like I say, huge pricing.

Don't know if anybody noticed but they've also bumped the upgrade fee to £69.

Yeah I have noticed this. I am due to upgrade now on the IUP, but I am considering my next move. Currently I've got the 128GB iPhone 7 which is fantastic. I don't need 256GB, but 64GB seems like a step backwards. £63.95 plus my SIM seems a lot of money each month. I love it, but how much?

It is £63 a month on Apple Upgrade Programme as well.

Can't wait until the phone networks release pricing. Going to be mental
Mental prices with low data allowance glad I got my Galaxy s8 in July for £600 with unlimited data for £22

We Brits are getting Timmy back though by spending less on Apple products as a result. He's losing his grip in Europes largest mobile phone market lol. I'm sure they are still making a decent profit here though, just not quite as much as pre-Brexit.

The prices are high, no doubt about that but I think the tech that is packed into this thing justifies it. The number of IR sensors/cameras in that notch alone is staggering (no IR scanning in Samsung alternatives). Add to that what looks to be typically very high quality build, the A11 which will blow everything away, the 4K recording etc and I think £999 is just about justifiable. Remember that (a) Samsung have got Apple by the short and curly's here with their OLED monopoly and are extorting them (b) These things have obviously been a ballache to engineer/manufacture so costs will be high (c) these things can't be considered to just be 'phones' anymore. SO many people saying I won't pay that much for a 'phone'. For £999 you get a device that competes with (and on many levels beats) high end cameras, videocameras and gaming platforms...like it or not they're the screen we spend hours of our day looking at, the cameras that we capture our lives through and the computer that contains pretty much every aspect of those lives. £999 is understandably too much for your average consumer that isn't bothered about the latest and greatest but the price tag for the iPhone 8/plus I think is fair and reflective of the devices' value.

Nonsense the Note 8 has better or comparable hardware for less. The Note 8 screen destroys this in resolution and size.

Ironically, though expensive, quite possibly seems the least outrageously priced of all the models/ variants announced today - the 8s are just atrocious pricing wise and the 64gb is stingy at £999...

Globalist Timmy is forever punishing you brits for going all Brexit!

Some quick conversion, thats roughly $1525

Gruber’s $1500 wishes came true across the pond!
Subtract 20% VAT from the £ price before you convert for a more realistic comparison -that's the government helping itself to a nice juicy slice of the pie

The combination of no TouchID and disgusting pricing have well and truly lost me now. I'll always stick to Apple Hardware but I'll be squeezing as much life out of my 7 Plus as I can and upgrading to an 8 Plus or X when the prices come down in a few years.

So it's £63 a month with no contract..so we could be looking at what, £80 a month for carriers such as EE?

Jesus. Not sure the words 'Note' and 'better hardware' should ever be used in the same sentence. I'll happily pay a premium for a brand that takes enough care over their products not to let them explode on airplanes. Besides, Samsung hardware may be comparable but the software doesn't make good enough use of it so no comparison IMO.

why are the prices on par with the dollar. Last time I checked the Pound is still higher than the dollar and yet we get $999 for £999

The US prices are subject to sales tax, that said even with the adjustment for those taxes the 64GB iPhone X should be somewhere around the £900 mark. Apple is still tacking a premium on to the price of the phone here.

What I would love to be able to do is pay more upfront and then reduce the monthly payments. So annoying that they don't do this.

Sensible post.

I'm not struggling either and i'm on the developer program so it kind behoves me to keep up with the platform but I;m also involved with Android development and always have an Android phone too so i'm aware of what is happening on the other side of the fence.

My gut instinct is to stick with the iPhone 7 or upgrade to the base model 8. The phones are good but they don't warrant the premium over the Android flagships.

They will push it too far with the pricing one day, at this rate it will be sooner that a lot of people think.

software is much improved and you can't really go on about last years note blowing up. It could happen to any company in fairness. You can only judge products on what you see now and right now note 8 is far better value for money than the iphone X currently.

Utter nonsense again. I also own a Note 5 & I've had no hardware or software issues with it all.

I do agree the note 8 looks like a very nice bit of kit however after owning an S8 they still can't get their software to be smooth throughout the entire os, there are jitters and freezes everywhere and something which I have never seen on any iPhone and nor my OnePlus 5.

That's a lot of money and unfortunately they don't offer a 128GB which would be perfect for me.

64GB will be a bit tight and 256GB is definitely way more than I need.

Where did you get that deal for the iphone 7+ 256GB from?

I'm using a 6s plus 64gb. Was planning to move to a Iphone X 128gb. As apple are cunning in making money I may have to leave this years model and wait for next year instead.
