thro AU...understand your points and thx for the feedback. As you know, the UI was the pinnacle factor that converted many people to MacOS and iOS in the past for its ease of use. If the backend of the system is holding up like you point out, the front visual end sure needs a good kicking. Security updates are most welcome to prevent malware, I have no issues with that at all ...... but pulling software updates to force upgrades to the next iOS is not cool. They're focused on different areas at the moment. The kernel and memory protection measures in the recent iOS releases are industry leading.
Sure the UI has gone backwards, but the overall "quality" of the software imho is much improved. Unfortunately in ways that you'll never see or appreciate due to it silently working in the background to protect you from malware.
Apple are caught with their pants down with what they have done removing access to iOS18.7.3.
Recently, they just seem to do whatever suits their convenience much to the anguish of a substantial number of current users. I wish they would still offer ALL users the option to continue to have security updates for iOS18 for now. Most customers are loyal customers, it is only a matter of time until they will upgrade to the next iOS ..... but with cold hearted moves like this, Apple want to screw users over to put priority on accelerating their own goals integrating AI and most likely cos they suddenly have a vacuum of talent exiting to places like Meta and want to consolidate.
Why should we end up being the can that's kicked down the road?
