Can we please stop tacking on all this stuff most of us won't use? Instead, give us a Snow Leopard-style update where iOS is improved and tightened. Spend a year, or two, on that. Make iOS as flawless and as efficient as can be, across all devices and locales.
Hear hear!

I'd rather see them split everything up that's now in an update:
Please have seperate downloads for:
- Bug fixes
- New features
- Removal of features
- New bugs

Number 7, Weather
- Why is it tilted?

Number 12, Selectively Turn Off Your Listening History
- That looks like the Nicrosoft way, drilling down 14 levels deep.

Number 13, Verify Your iMessage Contacts
- That seems like a welcome addition. I have no understanding on how this works technically, and can't understand why this isn't explained in the article.

Number 14, Sync Additional Message Settings in iCloud
- Still don't understand the name. When I go to iCloud in a browser I can't see my messages.

Number 22, Disable Inline Predictions
- I'm certain this is a welcome option by many.

What's the point of having a Journal app when the Notes app does exactly the same thing? Sounds like an unnecessary fragmentation to be honest.

Notes is ugly and chaotic. But beyond that, yeah. I’m unclear on what market this journaling app is supposed to serve? I tend to agree with you that they should have done a ground up rewrite of Notes with these features and skipped a new stand alone app. There are already plenty of journaling apps.

I want to point out, there's a new feature that I haven't seen talked about anywhere. Automatic live activities for sports teams you follow in the TV app. It only works for a couple sports, but the past week I've been getting live activities for Knicks games without me doing a thing.

18. Make Your iPhone an AirPlay Receiver

The iOS 17.2 update will turn your iPhone into an AirPlay receiver ready for the spatial computing era. A new "AirPlay Receiver" setting allows the upcoming ‌Apple Vision Pro‌ headset to stream or share content to your ‌iPhone‌.
I wish every Apple device could be an Airplay receiver for any other Apple device. Two particular situations—I want to Airplay local and streaming video from my iPhone to my iPad or MacBook to see it on the bigger screen on the go, and I want to Airplay from my Apple TV to my iPad or iPhone when I need to go into another room but want to continue watching what was playing on my Apple TV.

This next update is an absolutely incredible feature set of powerful updates, further enriching lives and improving our overall mental wellbeing. Only Apple can do all this within the confines of a point release.

Thanks laying out all this information in a comprehensive article that emphasises all the incredible work Apple has done preparing us this release.

I’ve stopped using the Journal app. So much wasted potential. They could have included weather, workout, mindfulness etc. data with the push of a button. Omitting iPad and macOS support entirely was the dealbreaker for me. I tend to write on whichever device I’m working. In its current state even the native Notes app is better than this.
