Im considering buying a 27" too but ive a mac pro on the floor near my desk.
is there an extension cable that will help to connect to the monitor from the macpro so i dont have to move the pro on the desk which would make it look awkward.

i dont have this display but it seems decent enough. i studied it for a while myself but could not come to terms with its lack of inputs at its asking price.

its limited inputs make it a one trick pony in my eyes but if you dont need additional inputs, i dont think you will go wrong with this display.

Worth it if you have deep pockets but there are better value displays out there. Dell do some great screens often at much better prices and they even look good with Mac gear.

My two displays are very nice (IMO) but man I cant stop thinking about that 27". I wanted it for the longest and now that its out I keep hesitating. I do miss the 24" ACD that I had (it was a sweet display) and what draws me into the idea of getting the 27" is that its just a bigger version of the 24"!

I just love the fact that on my 27" (and previously on my 24") i didn't have to pull the cord out from my laptop bag to use... just one cable to power a USB hub, monitor, speakers, and the laptop itself!

Thanks guys for all your input. I just went out and grabbed me the 27" ACD and no dead/stuck pixels, hair, dust underneath the glass and its freaking amazing!! I'm sooooo glad I got it!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I'm just angry that I didnt do this sooner, LOL.

Wow, the sound on this thing is much better than I anticipated. Like MUCH better LOL.

It sure feels like a totally different computing experience using this thing. :D

Been thinking of ditching my dual 23" displays and going with a single 27", but I don't need to.

You praising it isn't making it easier!

Glad to here you got you perfect setup. Just curious what you are doing with your old setup?

I know I might sound like I'm going back and forth alot but I have come to the conclusion that I'm going to keep my 2 monitor setup.

Dont get me wrong, the 27" display was flawless, its very vivid and the blacks are superb on it BUT after a full days use I found that one monitor is just one monitor. I tried to use 2 webpages side by side but the font was too small and awkward. I really did take having 2 monitors for granted and I'm off to the apple store to return this beauty. Dont judge me!!

I'm also considering purchasing the 27" but was reading online a bit.

1) for those who have the 27" led, can you have 2 windows fully opened like i do some editing in after effects and also a website opened on the side so i can watch a tutorial etc.Right now, i have to switch back and forth

2) Older matte apple monitors, I see many people selling the older apple monitors which are used in a dual way. And they are matte. So not sure how they compare and if still pro editors still use those.

3) the cable issue on the new led. I know yo u can buy an extension so that shouldn't be a issue.

4) pixel and color issue.Maybe all monitors are not perfect and have some issues but is it still relevant to newly purchased apple leds?

thanks all.

Hey guys, I've owned the 24" LED ACD in the past (but sold it) and now I have a dual monitor setup with an NEC 23" and a samsung 24" HDTV (main monitor) and I kind of want to get rid of both and just install the 27" on my arm. What do you guys think? Is the 27" worth it?

I've been the apple store many times to play with the 27" monitor BUT to me the 16:9 thing kinda puts me off. Perhaps the display doesnt look as massive as it would at home? I like how long the display is but is the height (viewing distance) respectable? It seems too squashed down to me.

I bought a 20 inch Apple Cinema Display in 2004 and I had no problems with it. I just sold it a month ago when I bought a 15 inch mbp and the 27 inch monitor. The 20 inch was still in great condition, but I wanted a larger one. There are more reviews on the Apple site. I've been very happy with it so far.:)

download link for the wallpaper? :p

I love the design of the monitor, and have played with it MANY times before in the apple store. The only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on it is because there would be no room for it on my desk next to my iMac. It's okay though because I have a 22in ViewSonic monitor alongside my 21.5in iMac to give me 43.5in of screen real estate. That is plenty for my needs. If apple still made a 24in model I would definitely get it.

I sold my 24" ACD on Monday, and my 27" ACD arrived on Tuesday. I must say... this is one fine piece of equipment. Also, I told myself I would wait until they came out on the refurb store, and they are there now. $850 is a much bette price, and you still get the 1 year warranty. Mine is flawless.

Really, besides the size.. whats so bad about the 24 inch ACD? For my purposes, it works great.. I don't see really any other difference other than size between the ACD 24 and ACD 27?? Besides, I couldn't even fit the 27 inch on my desk.

What model of Viewsonic do you have? I have a VX2235wm, and found that my 2010 15" MBP couldn't find it via the Apple MDP to DVI adapter. However,
the MDP to VGA does work, which is OK, as I share the monitor with my DVI connected desktop PC. One plus is that the Viewsonic res is 1680x1050, the same as my 15" hi-res MBP, so I have a one to one pixel mapping. The Viewsonic doesn't have the same visual impact as the MBP screen.
