Still processing for mine, i5 2.9 w/ Fusion ordered at 6am CST 11/30.

However, I found it interesting that I called Apple right now and they escalated my shipping and in the middle of the conversation he slipped and said my order will be shipping tomorrow...

I ordered a fully spec'd 27" about 6 AM Central time 11/30. An Apple CSR bumped my estimated arrival to Dec. 20-27 via 2-3 business days. But there's no change in order status. It's still 'Processing Items' and my card hasn't been charged.

Nice to see some movement..... Wonder how long they'll stay in preparing to ship:rolleyes:
atleast we know now they exist and are most likely going to arrive before january:p
I think once we see shipped we can start getting excited

How long does it usually take to go from preparing for shipment to shipped?

Kinda surprised at how early this is.. not that i'm complaining :)

Ordered same specs, same time. Still Processing...:(

I just got off the phone with apple and they couldn't tell me when mine was shipping so offered me a wireless keyboard (ordered a wired one) to go with the Magic Mouse that they have already sent me.

But I'm glad that there is movement on the 27 BTO front. Things are looking up!:apple:

Preparing for shipment

BTO 27"
i7 3.4 Ghz
680MX
1TB Fusion Drive
16GB RAM

Just changed to "Preparing shipment and nothing has come up in apple support profile. For those guys who are getting "preparing shipment", the "track by reference" option on UPS website might give you some clues before Apple sends you the tracking number. That's what I did with my iPhone 5 order and since its a service provided by UPS(or FedEx whichever company they're using for iMacs), it could be a useful tool for those of you who are really curious about when your new best friend is gonna be arriving ;p

I know waiting could be frustrating but I also understand its just a computer. Different people are drawn to be excited about different things, I don't understand why people come to this thread and talk about how "pointless" this thread is. Why bother clicking in the first place my friend? I understand what they mean by "theres no point in making this such a big deal but there's nothing wrong with people to get excited about a big tech toy and a good company in the office/home and want to know where it is. Plus it doesn't mean it's such a big deal nowadays since it only takes you five minutes to write a post and ten minutes to search for some info about your $3000 asset :D

Wish all of us to get our new iMacs within a desired timeframe! Love how its like a community here. Cheers!

Is this some US thing??? I ordered mine instantly and probably paid more than most people (Norwegian prices) when will mine be prepared for shipment???

I wonder if the first ones are built in the USA... i guess we will see in a few days ;)

Mine is still processing :( Placed my order at 3:09AM NY time on release day

Mine is almost identical to the front page article's (except a regular 7200rpm 1TB drive rather than the fusion disk) and mine is still processing. Ordered it at 12:04am PST on the first day. I'm not worried. I know mine is taking longer because Apple knows how fussy I am. :D :D

I wonder if those who called in and were comp'd expedited shipping are trading off their shipping date for shipping time (ie. it takes 2-3 days to get to you, but now you're going to have to wait til next week for it to be shipped!) I hope not!!!

Ordered two IMacs one 27" i7 gtx680mx 1tb fusion and one base model 27". My order is now preparing to ship but my card hasn't been charged yet just a pending charge for 75% of the order.

I'm not sure I see any pattern. I saw the MacRumors story and checked my order but it is still Processing and no charge is on my credit card.

I ordered a 27" with i7, 8GB, 1TB Fusion, and a GTX680 2GB. It says "Delivers Dec 20 - Dec 27 via 2-3 Business Days". The confirmation email for the order shows the time as 11/29 11:59am. I'm in the US.

I have the same config, with 680MX 2GB. Yea no pattern lol.

When I ordered my retina MacBook Pro in July I spent A LOT of time in that shipping thread. I did a lot of research and came up with the following synopsis of BTO MacBooks shipping from Shanghai.

...At the end of the assembly line, your Mac is boxed in both the white iMac and plain brown shipping boxes. Stickers with model and serial numbers are placed on both boxes. The stickers are identical so the boxing must be a continuous, mac into white box, into brown box, sequential step. At the same time, the factory uses FedEx software to generate a tracking number and merge the customer information with Apple’s serial number, etc. A FedEx label is printed and applied.

This is the point where your Apple order status changes to “Preparing for Shipment”

FedEx then picks up (I assume palletized) shipments from the factory twice a day, in the morning and again in the afternoon. Once picked up, the Apple order status changes to “Shipped” and apple supplies the tracking info. The key here is that it doesn't change to "shipped" until the factory physically hands off the boxes to FedEx

Again, that was for MacBooks coming from china. If these are being assembled in the US, I would assume the process would be similar.

Mine is a delivery date of the 20th-24th and its still processing, but I'm in Australia, it must just be the US ones, probably going to be the made in USA iMacs.
