And yet this Monday I had an argument with FedEx over the existence of my home address -- a 67 year old house. They held the package at the local facility for two days until Amazon called FedEx for me and Memphis call them and force them to hand me my package. It's actually the second time I've had an argument with them over an address. First one was my childhood home, a house that was less than 2 blocks from the hospital on the third or fourth busiest street in town. When picking the package up at the local facility I turned around to the line of people behind me asking if they remembered seeing the house. They all raised their hands.

I live in a smaller city of about 20,000 people with a neighboring city across the river of 60,000. There's another 10,000 or so in the surrounding area. There's ONE FedEx truck for this entire area while UPS has two warehouses and a legion of trucks with routes similar to postmen. FedEx here is idiotic and incompetent. I'm not looking forward at all to delivery (or not) of my iMac.

Meanwhile I have the mobile phone number of my area's UPS driver.

UPS is much better in my small town (10,000 people) too. The drivers are friendly, helpful and efficient.

FEDEX is awful here. The drivers leave packages on my uncovered front porch, rain or shine, without so much as knocking to see if I'm home let alone giving me time to come to the door and fetch it. They must have quotas or other work requirements that make them too rushed to deliver a package properly.

I live on a street that is bisected by a university so it's not obvious how to get here unless you know the town - the street dead ends into the U and the resumes on the other side of the U. The FEDEX drivers are so poorly trained that new ones are not given maps or explanations of all this, and routinely cannot find the address to deliver packages. And once a FEDEX driver actually signed my name for a package and left it on my back porch, which I never use. I didn't find it for a week.

They are all of them so bad, it must be their management.

My iMac has been in the Preparing for Shipment stage for 16 hours.

its a possibility that it shipped out already. try checkin ups or fedex site using your phone number (the one you used on apple.com) as a reference number.

At least is preparing for shipping mine it's still processing. JESUS !!

Mine was in "Preparing for Shipment" for 24 hours, and when I checked it after I got my shipping notification it had shipped some 12 hours earlier. My shipment this time around wasn't my phone number it was a number which appears to be associated with the Shanghai plant it came from: 8236590277.

Mine has been in prepare to ship for the last 12 hours at least I hope it leaves shanghai in the first batch going out this morning(shanghai time):)

Nope, it's not there. I realize it still may have shipped. That's happened with Apple in the past - the website isn't updated until the package is almost here.

Update. Maxed out 27. Shipping to Perth - Original delivery window was 20-24.

Mine went to preparing to ship yesterday lunch (local time). Approx 1am it went to shipped status. New Apple email suggests delivery of 17th.

TNT is the company being used.

The TNT tracking is stating some package from Amman. Sounds like it hasn't been updated.

Question. How long does it take for the real tracking to work?

Good luck to all with deliveries.

I did not intend to begin a flame war over carriers.

The UPS local drivers that service my area are all great! It is the company that blows goats milk. There's a reason that UPS employees are unionized.

The FedEx drivers for my area, well, that's another story. For the most part they're okay. I've had FedEx leave a package (signature required) at the wrong address--not even close. FedEx has place packages in large plastic bags and hung them over the fence at the unlocked driveway gate, left them on the ground on the street side of the gate, and simply put a sticker on the gate that they tried to deliver--weak sauce.

The day my iMac is out for delivery? I'm going to leave the driveway gate OPEN with yellow ribbons arranged in arrows leading to the front door. :D

Yup, I'm in the same boat, if it actually left AK, then it's more then likely in KY and just didn't get it's arrival scan, the next scan you see will probably be a departure to wherever tonight .... hopefully ....

I don't understand. Why are there two departure scans from Shanghai a day and a half apart?

There's no flame war unless someone invokes Hitler. What we're having is a discussion. :D

Because the factory is in shanghai as well as the airport. That's my guess. First departure is it leaving factory, second is it leaving to ak.
