I thought only the Xbox Elites came with HDMI input though? They're the black Xbox's.

My buddy has a 1st Gen X-Box, that uses HDMI. Then he got the elite. Now there is an "EnTRY" level X-box, that may or may not support HDMI (not sure, but I know it doesn't support X-box live).

All new xbox consoles ship with a HDMI port. Even the arcade version. The main diffrence now is the number of games added to the box or a hdd. And as far is I know they all can use Xbox Live, would be a bit stipud if Microsoft refuses that from the cheap consoles.

Wow, I really want my iMac now! Although this is really great news, it makes me even want my iMac more and more! And I might have to wait to the beginning of the new year! :(

How to get the audio

Ya, I've actually been looking on the Apple site for any refurbished 27"s to pop up, a 21.5" was up there this morning but gone by noon! LOL.

The Dutch Apple Store (website) doesn't even offer refurbished models.. Too Bad. Well, obvious, we're such a small country. But that doesn't mean that we Dutch people don't want to spend hundreds of euro's at Apple stuff :)

720p is go...

Looks nice... though I want 1080p!!!! PLEASE!

Cool!!!...but i want 1080p too. I wonder which is the problem 1080p or xbox. Can you connect macbook and set resolution 1080p? If it does work, the problem is xbox. If it doesn't work, it means iMac doesn't support 1080p I guess.

Surely if 720p works then so must 1080p? If the Xbox is capable of displaying 1080p and so is the display, then why not? :S

As soon as I go above 720p the iMac always flicks back to its own display (which is what I was seeing earlier tonight). This probably means it does not support the display resolution.

I have not had any luck using the 'Display Discovery' option - no resolution other than 640*480 seems to works there, but the 720p HDMI option does when 'Display Discovery' is disabled...

Bummer, not sure if I am going to keep my order then, ONLY thing that put me off it was the fact I wanted to watch blu-ray movies in 1080p =/

Could the problem be the DP200? Because you're MBP didn't go to 1080p as well... That would be strange because it should be able to work with the resolution of 1920x1200...

720p looks nice :) Game on! How's the lag... Or how does it respond on input from the controller? Waiting any longer than on a normal screen for example?

Did you try to change HDMI color space?
Default setting is for HDTV.
Extended is for PC moniter I think.

Anyway I'm happy with 720p......
After all, even 1080p wouldn't be the native resolution, so it wouldn't look much better than 720p.....the native resolution is 1440p (or QUAD-720p :D)...

ps: can you take a close high-definition photo of a 3D game running?

You can watch 1080p blurays running Windows in bootcamp and using a USB/Firewire external blu-ray burner/reader.

Yeh but I was hoping I would just be able to plug my PS3 in as he has with his Xbox. Ill consider it, the whole point was to get rid of clutter, Ill look into it!

Yeah I have tried that resolution - still no luck. I just got the 360 to flick to 1280*720 by using 'Display Discovery' so thats some small progress!

I see...
Anyway, have you tried some game in 720p to see what it looks like?

Hmm.. I'm sure this question has been answered numerous times in other forums, but is the display usable with the computer off? I'm just thinking that the computer may be getting in the "way" at the 1080p resolution. Meaning, that it's trying to drive a native resolution from the computer, while receiving another high resolution signal?

No, I'm 99% sure that aint possible :(

It still looks bloody good. RealEvil you should be given a prize for your invaluable investigations. Definitely the first person on the internet to do this.

Does anybody know why 1080p might not be working? Surklyn's suggestion could be correct. Perhaps Atlona can explain?
